I oh-so-obviously need one of these.

I missed that touring bellydance show last night that had Rachel Brice. I forgot about the date until I was committed to going to Astoria. Astoria kicked ass, so it doesn't bother me any.

Near as I can tell, I now have seven (!) people who want to go to NIN. Some of them can't pay up front. The only thing they all have in common is knowing me. I'm thinking I'm just going to stop by Fred Meyer (which has a ticketmaster) tomorrow and buy all seven in one shot and just have people pay me back, unless there are any strong objections. I currently have the money on hand. It's the only way I can think of, to make sure we all sit together.

While looking for quotes online, I found this one, which is by the pagan author Starhawk:

"We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been — a place half-remembered and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free."

I like it so much I think I might put it in my userinfo. Right below where I posted my favorite e e cummings poem, heh.

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 for the link: Working Class Acupuncture. It's a place in Portland that works on a sliding scale, and a very affordable one at that. Kick ass.

I made the cupcakes from the issue of VegNews I got at the fest thing. They don't taste exactly like yellow cake cupcakes, but they're still tasty. My dad loves them. I don't have any soymilk in the house, so I used orange juice in the frosting, which turned out damn tasty. I put a bunch in a container to take to work tomorrow. Yay!

I needed to start out with a bigger mixing bowl though--they rise with baking soda and lemon juice/vinegar, so when I mixed the wet and dry they fizzed/foamed like crazy, and I didn't have room in the mixing bowl, so I was running around trying to find a bigger bowl going "aaaah WTF!!" *lol* That and I overfilled the cups for the first batch and had to cut around the edges to get them free from the muffin tin. The messy ones are the ones I saved for the people here--they still taste fine.

I even have some frosting left over.

I have shrunk them a tad, but still: Lots of images, beware! )

Hee hee hee...*evil laugh*

That was a great episode. And I found all my copied Firefly DVDs. I sense a marathon in my near future.

Bedtime.
