I oh-so-obviously need one of these.
I missed that touring bellydance show last night that had Rachel Brice. I forgot about the date until I was committed to going to Astoria. Astoria kicked ass, so it doesn't bother me any.
Near as I can tell, I now have seven (!) people who want to go to NIN. Some of them can't pay up front. The only thing they all have in common is knowing me. I'm thinking I'm just going to stop by Fred Meyer (which has a ticketmaster) tomorrow and buy all seven in one shot and just have people pay me back, unless there are any strong objections. I currently have the money on hand. It's the only way I can think of, to make sure we all sit together.
While looking for quotes online, I found this one, which is by the pagan author Starhawk:
"We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been — a place half-remembered and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free."
I like it so much I think I might put it in my userinfo. Right below where I posted my favorite e e cummings poem, heh.

The protest in Sacramento was the same weekend as the Summer Solstice, so we had a ritual after one of the spokesmeetings. I was helping to plan it and write it out etc. during lunch at a teach-in, and she couldn't make it because she was busy somewhere else. It struck me as really funny--I'm not even on the ritual planning committee for the local Reclaiming tradition, but here I was with a few people saying, "Now Star's going to say her bit here after I cast the circle...what do we want her to mention?" *LOL* Kicked ass.
Also: Love the icon. I was just thinking that I needed a pagan/Wiccan one, and that one is funny. Can I steal it?
