Pedalpalooza is near its end....

This is the earliest I've been awake in a week.
I don't fit my white Gunne Sax dress anymore. Booo. Wore the one I got from
seams_unusual instead. The Tea Dance ended up doing a ride-by at the Bike Kiss-In (which is where Marty spotted me!) and then went to meet up with the Michael Jackson memorial ride. I didn't go on the ride itself, but I did dance at the start of it, and now I'm in a picture on the BikeSnobNYC blog.
Shawn and I went to several stops on the Parks to Parks ride before eating Voodoo donuts and tacos and then crashing at his house, at which point I felt so nauseous that I slept in leggings and Shawn's bathrobe in case I had to run downstairs and puke. Pedalpalooza has been less than kind to my guts, I think I've been living on junk food and beer. And then I wonder why I can't fit into a dress. D'oh.
Speaking of dresses, during the Parks to Parks ride, the bottom lace caught on something and ripped a good foot and a half. I ended up just ripping it off the rest of the way, as it was too far gone to fix without it being noticeable. Oddly, because of the way the lace ripped, I think it looks okay. But I feel really bad about the dress because
seams_unusual gave it to me.
Last night was the Bike-In Movie at the Hawthorne Hostel, where Shawn works. The movie was Long Road North, and I liked it, even though it wasn't a very dramatic documentary. It's about a guy (and his friends, and family, and girlfriend, all who joined and/or left at various times) who biked from the southern-most tip of South America, to the northern-most town in Canada. It took him nineteen months. Amazingly, after it was over him and his girlfriend were still together--they got married and have a kid on the way. Later I asked Shawn, "You're not going to invite me to do something crazy like that, are you?" and he got the most evil smile. Should I be worried?
Okay! So! Time to get dressed (the return of...THE ROMPER) and head out to the first of my two volunteer shifts for the Multnomah County Bike Fair. Helping to set up from 9am to 1pm, then serving beer from 1:30 to 4pm.
The Multnomah County Bike Fair is awesome. It's at Colonel Summers Park (SE 20th and Belmont) from 2 to 7pm. If you're in the area, you should show up! It's wickedly fun.
After that is another naked ride. I might not be completely naked this time, which is too bad. Last year's post-MCBF ride is where I got my current icon picture!

lace

Date: 2009-06-30 09:11 pm (UTC)I'm gaining weight. Most Pedalpalooza stuff is not long-distance riding, and many events are "bike somewhere and eat something" or "bike somewhere and drink beer" kinds of things. I haven't stepped on a scale recently, but a good number of my clothes are really tight, some to the point of unwearable.
I don't mind that I've gained weight in terms of my looks or anything like that. Pretty much the only reason it bothers me is because I like my clothes and wish to keep wearing them. Plus I can't afford to buy any more!!
