Thanks to Daniel for pointing this out:

The webcomic xkcd is all Firefly based this week. It's HI-larious, as Jayne would say. Except so far, Jayne's not in this series.

I forgot that the Midnight Mystery Ride is early this month--it's this Friday. But I already have plans for "Experimental Karaoke." Plus, I guess the MMR is going to be a longer ride to an overnight spot? Bike camping for MMR? That's a new one on me.

Anyway. I'm thinking I might wear the outfit for karaoke, that I'd planned to wear to the Pretty Dress Ride. Yuppers. Except I probably won't curl my hair.

Went to the bead store on Hawthorne. Bought stuff to make letter stitch markers for the damn sock I've been knitting. I plan to finish that heel today.

So, yeah: my plans for today:
Eat lunch (I'm making it right now)
Take adderall (haven't in almost a week due to illness)
Put away clean laundry
Get the heel done on this motherfucking sock. This will seriously be like the fourth time I've knit it. The first time worked out great, except that was when I realized my gauge was seriously off.
...iron my dress? Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. I'm doing a bike move, too; which means it's highly likely that I'll be doing the bike move in my lolita stuff. Hah!!

So...uh...I went to the bead store earlier to buy alphabet beads and findings to make stitch markers (for sock knitting) out of them. I ended up using blank earrings and put the alphabet beads on them, and they're not perfect, but they're cheap and they'll work.

(Although if anyone cares to, a pretty set like these would be nice to have....)

While at the bead store, some glass beads caught my eye. Now I suck at jewelry design, but I've stared down enough of the awesome stuff some of my friends make to get the general gist of how some of it is made.

So I wrestled with a couple of glass beads and tiny pliers and made a pair of earrings:

Sorry for the crappy cell phone shot--I loaned Shawn G my camera for his trip.

They're not perfect--I can see all their flaws. But for a first time, and just a couple of minutes, not bad! I now have perfectly okay earrings for a few dollars. I might do this more often, as long as I keep to really simple stuff.

And to my friends I've linked who make excellent jewelry: I do not have the eye, or the patience, to make anything worth selling, so no worries.

I GOT WICKED SOCK-FU, BITCHES

(yeah, I got hairy legs)

The only reason I'm posting this, is that it took something like four tries to get this sock knit past the heel correctly and in the right gauge!! Normally, turning a heel is not something that deserves celebration. But I'm proud of this one, dammit.

The book I'm using to knit it is in the background. It's Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters. The pattern is the Coriolis!

Toe-up socks are so awesome.

My left hand is sore.
