I GOT WICKED SOCK-FU, BITCHES

(yeah, I got hairy legs)

The only reason I'm posting this, is that it took something like four tries to get this sock knit past the heel correctly and in the right gauge!! Normally, turning a heel is not something that deserves celebration. But I'm proud of this one, dammit.

The book I'm using to knit it is in the background. It's Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters. The pattern is the Coriolis!

Toe-up socks are so awesome.

My left hand is sore.

Do you knit? Socks are awesome. They're also not that hard, usually. These ones are tricky because they use different techniques than what I'm used to, but now that I'm getting the hang of it and really understanding why the author does things a certain way, the second sock will be much easier.

I haven't shaved my legs or pits since I was seventeen--twelve years ago! I stopped out of sheer laziness more than anything, as I hate stubble and am unwilling to deal with it every day.

nah, i don't know how to knit or do cool things with yarn. i can kind of sew, and i make my own little things that way, but that's about the extent.

i stopped shaving earlier this year. i just thought of the cost and the waste created, and i just couldn't really find a good reason to keep doing it.

i like my body hair. i've had nightmares about shaving it off, with much panic ensuing.

Knitting is fun! If you ever get a chance to learn, it's worth it.

I've occasionally thought about removing the hair on my legs 'cause I think it looks weird in fishnets or if it shows through tights. But...waxing hurts and costs money, I don't plan to ever shave again, and I'm allergic to Nair-type stuff. Naaah.

i just don't think there are good enough reasons. i think there's been too much programming about what is aesthetically pleasing. we are not meant to all fit in the same box.

plus, i think it can be a way to weed out people. i wouldn't want someone who couldn't accept some body hair. if they got hung up on that, i'm not sure i'd want to hang out with them, you know?

I know that the longer I go without shaving, the weirder it looks to see women who shave. And anyone who's bothered by my hairy pits can take a long walk off a short pier.

But, y'know, it's not all black'n'white. I've been known to, er, "trim the hedges" (NOT shave) when asked politely, because it can make oral sex easier.

trimming is a different game. i don't care as much about that.

OOoo, pretty and the match the earrings you made! How much time do those socks take to make? I may have to have you make some for me for flamenco, because I can't find any pretty ones without toe seams. So get good at it, OK?

I'll let you know when I'm done with this pair. If you pay for the yarn, we can talk about it. :^)

The amount of knitting in the picture, not including having to go back and fix mistakes, represents probably eight or nine hours of knitting. Possibly more. I try not to think about it. *lol*
