That yearly thing

I have done this almost every year since 2004. Yeesh. Let's see if I remember to change all the years after copy/pasting from the 2005 post.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?

Rode a bicycle over the coast range. Rode over 80 miles in one day. Lived in an apartment with just my boyfriend, no family or roommates.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I....I don't remember if I had any.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No, thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?

Canada!!

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

A good job.

7. What date(s) from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

The period of time when Shawn went on tour in early June. The day I think I had a panic attack. The day of my bike accident, and the following days in the hospital. On a more positive note: Several days of the tour we did in September, especially the days going down the coast, and the day from Newport to Corvallis. Wait, that describes the entire tour, except for the day I biked out to Cape Lookout and the rest day. Seeing Joanna Newsom. My Aurora concerts. I'm sure there's others.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Heh. Biking over the coast range, biking 80-something miles in one day (seeing a theme yet?).

9. What was your biggest failure?

Not getting a job. *sigh*

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Hahahahahaha yeah. My bike accident. October 16th, a date which will live in infamy.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Lately, I bought some nice clothes, and a hat, and some Totes boots, but I've realized the boots NEVER EVER get dry inside, so they've been demoted. I also bought another bike, but I'm not riding it yet (needs work). New glasses.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Oh my god. Well, Shawn first of all. He has been so kind and generous. But also, the rest of my friends, who paid for my glasses and just helped out a lot after my accident.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

People driving cars who cut me off, yell at me, honk, pass too closely, or just generally refuse to acknowledge my right to the road.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Rent. Food.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Bike touring!! BTW, have I mentioned how much I love bike touring? It's cheap, it's fun, it's awesome.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?

Anything by MGMT. Because I am two years late for everything.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. optimistic or pessimistic? eh, here and there. Possibly more pessimistic.
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Meh.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Looking harder for work.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Y'know, part of me says, "spend so much damn time online" but I don't know that that's actually true. I wish I'd spent less time moping.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Bike/max to my parents' house, deliver cookies etc, maybe open a present or two, make a tofurky to eat for dinner with my family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2010?

I stayed in love.

23. How many one-night stands?

Wow. I have had sex with only one person all year.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Shawn and I were watching Northern Exposure on DVD for a while, and I liked it.

25. Do you love anyone now that you didn't love this time last year?

I think there are people in my life that I love a great deal (in a non-romantic sense), and only really realized how much recently.

26. What was the best book you read?

I dunno! And I did read, I swear.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

MGMT. Because I am two years late for everything.

28. What did you want and get?

Lots of time on a bicycle.

29. What did you want and not get?

Eh, a job.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?

Right now, I'd have to say the most recent Harry Potter movie. I don't go out to movies much.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

Visited Vancouver BC with Shawn. I was 31.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

A sense of accomplishment in something not bike-related. Not to beat a dead horse, but a job.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?

Lolita-esque when I could, practical comfy clothes most of the rest of the time. In the summer I wore that orange and brown sundress (that I bought for $7 at Buffalo Exchange several years ago!) a ridiculous number of times.

34. What kept you sane?

An internet connection, Shawn, my friends. Or to be literal about it, my Wellbutrin.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

I can't think of anyone.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

I've been sorta half-assed about political stuff. I might repost stuff on facebook and that's about it. I did worry about the mid-term election.

37. Who did you miss?

My friends who moved away! I know they all moved away more than a year ago, but in [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake's case I think we're closer now than when she lived here! Gmail chat FTW.

38. Who was the best new person you met?

Hm. I don't know. I'm not sure I met that many new people.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005.

Have a super-bright headlight on your bike. Srsly.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

I don't think I ever have a good answer for this one.

I LOVE "NORTHERN EXPOSURE"!!! That was my favorite show when I was a teenager. I watched it with my mom and brother every week!

Also, I should start using G-mail chat!

You have no right to the road, get out of the way.

Yeah, I really don't give a shit what anonymous assholes on the internet think.

Also, from a legal standpoint, yes I do. Get over it. The number of people riding bicycles in the USA is going up, so you're going to have to get used to it.
