I had about twenty tabs open--some were podcasts I wanted to listen to, my gmail etc., but most of them were apartment listings that Shawn and I were looking at.
I saved and quit firefox and handed the laptop over to my roommate so she could use it to set up her ebook reader, because for some reason she can't with her Mac.
She used firefox and then closed it without saving.
I can't figure out how to get back all those tabs. They're not in my history that I can find. Craigslist gets so many apartment posts that you can't look back for an entire day's worth of posts, even on a Sunday. Some of those links were from Friday, a few from today. We'd settled on about three of the fifteen ads I looked at just today.
The ones I opened Friday I had emailed to Shawn so he could look at them. The ones from today are probably gone though. I'm going to look through craigslist to see if I can find the ones we looked at earlier.
But the podcasts are GONE. That was stuff I was planning to listen to while crocheting or whatever. And it's a huge hassle to find the craigslist posts.
She apologized but I don't think she realizes how upset I am. :^(

silly question, but it's a function that's saved me a few times...

Date: 2010-03-08 03:58 pm (UTC)They weren't podcasts where I wanted to listen to every episode, just random ones on specific issues.

Date: 2010-03-08 10:21 am (UTC)At this point, I pretty much have my friends and family trained not to do that, but I still get tetchy anytime someone uses my computer. I'm always doing a million things at once and all the windows are open because I don't want to forget what I found there.
Hope you find the apartment you want, though.

Date: 2010-03-08 04:02 pm (UTC)Once a couple months ago, I spilled a root beer float on my laptop. With my laptop on its side, I still saved and quit firefox before turning off the computer and pulling out the battery. I didn't want to lose my tabs!
Thank you! Yeah, in other cities you have to pay to advertise an apartment on craigslist. I really wish they'd do that here--there's one complex that advertises about every half an hour all day. It has to be someone's full time job to post to craigslist! I'm sorely tempted to flag every single one.

Date: 2010-03-08 06:35 pm (UTC)Every so often my sisters the twins, who have a key to our place for a number of reasons, decide to "help out" and clean up a bit. EVERY TIME they throw out stuff that was important. They mean well, but they've thrown out important papers because they didn't know any better, some of my stuff from Lush (because the face mask looked like mold because they don't use that stuff), and a bottle of really expensive conditioner because it was more than two thirds gone.
We have free Craigslist apartment ads, too. And yeah, last I checked, the rules were you couldn't post about the same thing more than once in 30 days, so flag away.

Date: 2010-03-08 06:53 pm (UTC)DON'T MESS WITH MY STUFFS, Y'ALL. Yeah, it's a mess--but I generally know where shit is in that mess, and I know what's important and what isn't.
I think the complex that posts constantly just opened, and I think they're making one post for each unit? No idea. But they're not the only ones doing it. Them and a few places out in the suburbs. But, yeah: I think I'm going to start flagging their asses.
Craigslist apartment listing rule #1: If it doesn't say where it is on the headline, it's in a shitty location. I keep clicking on them anyway, only to find out they're in Lake Oswego (a suburb I loathe) or Vancouver WA (across the Columbia River, ain't happening).

Date: 2010-03-08 11:53 pm (UTC)The main reason, of course, is the fact that they're only 22, so they've got a lot more growing up to do.
But five minutes after I left that comment today? They came over, used my computer, and closed the browser. Then got all bitchy when I tried to explain to them how it makes me feel. Bah, I've let it go for the reasons listed above ... plus the fact that there was only one tab open, and I remembered what it was. >__<;;
