I am once again running into the problem of I Want to Wear a Frilly Dress, Dammit VS. Holy Shit it's Raining (and Cold) and I'm on a Bicycle.
It's also dark outside. Can't forget that.
On the upside, I'm biking to Shawn's house and then we're walking to the party from there, so I can remove and add layers as appropriate once I get to Shawn's.
Having trouble deciding which dress to wear.
Musical notes dress, pro: Super cute. Fits fairly well. Goes with over-the-knee white socks. Con: Can't find the little bow pin that goes with it. I've worn it fairly recently. My petticoat is too long and hangs out the bottom, unless I pin it in somehow. The blouse that matches it is short-sleeved and too tight to wear anything else underneath for warmth, which means I'd have to wear my turtleneck dress, which might be too hot for the party itself.
Soundgirl dress, pro: Super cute. I've lost a few pounds which means it isn't too uncomfortable to wear any more. I haven't worn it in a while (because it didn't fit!). My petticoat fits underneath. I have more stuff that matches it, like an off-white headband with a bow on it. Con: still a little on the tight side, which might annoy me as the night progresses. Thinner fabric.
Hah. Lots of eventful stuff happens, and I post for the first time in weeks to talk about clothes. Typical.

Date: 2009-11-21 02:45 am (UTC)You could probably find another blouse, but that's a lot harder.
You should also whip up an all purpose Loli skirt in a color that goes with most of your clothes. Wide-ish waistband, gathered, with a built in petticoat or false petticoat. Then you could just grab it and go, over leggings or whatever. It would be really easy to make--just boxes.

Date: 2009-11-21 03:04 am (UTC)I do have a cardigan for my musical note dress, black with a collar and zipper, but it's itchy mohair so I have to wear long sleeves under it anyway.
I just need to buy a decent petticoat. It would be far easier than trying to sew real or fake ones into skirts. Plus then I could get a really poofy petti for when I wear outright lolita (not a square-dancing one though--wrong shape), and a much smaller practical one for when I wear the skirts in "normal" outfits.
I have a list of things to buy as well as make. *lol* Like this blouse (http://www.annahousefashion.com/016-1076.jpg) in off white and/or black. It would look good with lolita--either with a skirt or dress--and with normal stuff too. I think the bow at the collar is removable.
ANYWAY. Need to get over the fact that it's raining and just get on the bike. It's not going to stop if I wait. Dang.
