Plans for the day

*After towels come out of dryer, take shower and get dressed
*Go to Clever cycles, pick up a pretty and cheap basket if they still have them (they're $5 and they attach to a rack or upright handlebars!), also possibly a new headlight and taillight (this time I'm just buying $&%# Knog Frogs, as they're easily taken on and off the bike and won't bounce off--I have broken or lost EVERY taillight I have ever had because they've flown off the mount when I've hit a bump in the road)
*Go to New Seasons, pick up ingredients to finish bean salad (members of my household have been making lots of bean salad that we all eat), also some stuff I've been putting off buying like deodorant

This evening Shawn and I are going on a sunset group ride (meets at Laurelhurst by the pond at 7:45pm). Also possibly the Irondelles ride. Details at the Shift calender.

The Big News, for people not on facebook, is that my unemployment dispute was resolved and now I'm getting unemployment. WOOHOO!!! I can pay rent! I can buy a headlight and taillight!! I can buy groceries and pay my cell phone bill!!

*doing the happy dance* Seriously folks, do you have any idea how much less stress I have now?

In addition, I have an appointment next week to see a psychiatric nurse practitioner and get back on my ADD meds.

AND the heatwave here in Portland is finally starting to cool off. Finally! It'll be nice to sleep in my own bed without dying of heat.

WOOHOO about unemployment!!!

in my experience, the frogs were a waste of money. the clips fell off them right away (and immediately lost), and the lights are so small they're barely see-able. i have one zip-tied to the front of my bike as a measure against getting a ticket if i forget my normal light, but it doesn't really work as a light. just my $.02, which you probably didn't need and definitely didn't ask for!!

I think I might attach the rear one to my helmet. I know the headlight one will fit on my stem, I used to have one there until it was stolen. My stem seems the perfect size for the headlight.

I dunno, I think they're fairly bright. *shrug* It's better than losing them all the dang time.

I have a headlight but someone stole my mount! I've been riding head-light-less for weeks, which really bothers Shawn.

not knowing the light in particular...

The secret is to superglue plastic to plastic, or loctite metal to metal. If you have plastic rear lights on your reflector, put superglue on the nut. My favorite for the front used to be a maglite holder, but I don't know what is on the market now; I've had the same lights for 20 years and they didn't fall off.
