Katrina (aka [livejournal.com profile] seams_unusual)! You're not supposed to help them hang you!! (They were bein' hung for the crime of living in sin, you see....they could only escape a hangin' by gettin' married...seemed to work out.)

If I look half that good if/when I get married, I think I'll be pretty happy. Also, the fan was a genius idea, you have something to fidget with during the ceremony.

I'm wearing Tyson's HUGE hat. Shawn's expression is priceless.

I was but a young innocent thing freshly arrived in the city, when a beautifully dressed woman offered to help me, only to lead me into a life of crime...

AKA: [livejournal.com profile] singswithtrees is wearing Tyson's hat, and I'm wearing Patrick's.

Jesus, do I hate navigating through photobucket. You people need flickr accounts. And I'm obviously hotlinking, let me know if that bothers you and I'll put them on my flickr or something.

I did NOT have a good angle, but here's my pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/beautifulwolf/sets/72157621054366123/

Who took these ones? That was SERIOUSLY the COOLEST wedding EVER. Even grumpy Curtis agrees :)

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno who took them!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
*looking at your shots*

DAMN, woman!!! have you thought about seriously doing wedding photography? These are awesome!!!

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Haha.. NO! I have noooooo patience for bitches, and most women, become Bridezilla. NO WAY! I'll stick to animals ;0P

Also, the postprocessing would be BOOOOOORING! Dog pics, I get excited about, but these pics, I only edited 3 of them, because I started editing a couple, then went "Eh, I want to play with dog pics" ;)

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Also, as can be seen, I do MUCH better with candids. A lot of wedding photography, is posed, and I'd FAIL at that. I could see doing a mentorship under a professional wedding shooter, for the experience, but I'd only want to be there as an extra, to chase the good pics in the crowd, and other candids.

I've thought about asking a few wedding photographers about following them to weddings as a protege, but my schedule isn't lax enough, with Dea, and no sitter.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Some people prefer candid shots. I tend to hate posed photography, I think people get the stupidest expressions. (This despite the fact that I often "pose" when I see a camera, as I'm a huge camera whore.) I'd want all candids if/when I get married, myself.

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well when you get married, call me! haha Even if just as a guest, and I make you HIRE someone else ;0P

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
And P.S. I think you need a pirate wedding ;0)

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh and the home-distilled brew, was a TOTAL WIN. Just saying ;0P (Hey, if I'm demanding I be invited, mine as well add my input now! hahaha!)

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha yeah right. I like to drink, but I ain't big on running a distillery.

I'd buy a couple of kegs of good beer and call the alcohol situation done. I'm also not inviting nearly as many people as they did.

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Curt's a home-brewer, and wants to start distilling ;) hehe

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
300. yup. It was my mom's fault. But the whole wedding got formed around the realization that we might have 300 guests. That's why it had to be someplace outside and cheap (free). Which is how it got to be at the marina... which is how the pirates got invited... who put the nooses up and staged a trial.... etc

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I once made a list of people who I would invite to a wedding if/when I get married...I think it was about thirty. It might be higher now because of how many bike-y people I know.

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks! We make tasty stuff!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfft. Not really into the pirate thing anymore. At this point, my mental image of a wedding is heavy on bicycles.

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Heehee! If I ever got married again, I'd want it on horseback ;0P

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
the pirate thing was not planned. It kind of built up as the word was spread that we were getting married at the Cove. It started with, "You're getting married under the Hanging Tree? you need nooses"
And apparently moved to a mock trial and everything!
Some people thought we were having a hawai'ian-themed wedding because NoHo was catering. Some came dressed in Steampunk because they'd seen my outfit.
People brought different things to it.
it was cool

My friend Stern took them. She's a photography student at Evergreen. You can see her work at her Deviantart account.

[identity profile] beautifulwolf.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I added her on DA. I actually already had some of her dog work faved, not knowing that she was local! :)

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't find wedding pics on Stern's DA account anywhere

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
thanks!

The noose thing is a little weird. I'm surprised an old black dude didn't interrupt the wedding.

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The ceremony started with them being led to the hanging platform by people in pirate garb, and they each had their hands tied together in front of them. Once they were there, one pirate put the nooses on them while another read a "proclamation" saying they had to be married or they'd be hung. The officiant said his thing, Katrina sang a song about how Marty was her navigator etc while her father played the guitar (it was beautiful, omg), then Marty recited the lyrics for "Sweet Child O'Mine" by Guns'n'Roses (except her father did the actual line "oh, sweet child o'mine" in the chorus every time). They were proclaimed married, they got to kiss (Katrina held the fan up to hide it, which was adorable) and the nooses were taken off, with the pirates making a show of disappointment at not being able to hang them.

I mean, hanging was the usual punishment for all sorts of things for hundreds of years. It wasn't just used for lynching, and I doubt that even occurred to anybody!

[identity profile] singswithtrees.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Not a problem. And I've tried using Flickr, but I had a hard time navigating through it. I think that I've been using Photobucket for so long that I'm spoiled for other things.

the bride speaks

[identity profile] seams-unusual.livejournal.com 2009-07-21 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
For the record about the nooses:
It is actually against the law in Oregon to put a noose in a tree and leave it there BECAUSE it is notoriously a symbol of a lynching. It's about as tasteless as a burning cross. I found this out not long before the wedding and spoke to the guy who's idea it was. He said, "well... our context is obviously piratical... and we're not *leaving* it up there...."
But, just to be sure he went to the resident girl of African decent that lives on a gorgeous sailboat at the Pirates Cove and asked if it would bother her. Her response: "What? Two WHITIES getting hanged? That sounds great!"
And it wasn't brought up afterwards. :-D

Yeah, the lynching thing had not even crossed my mind...but then, I'm white, y'know?

Glad to hear she was okay with it.
