The Pedal Potluck Picnic on Tuesday night, rode over the Ross Island Bridge (on the sidewalk). That was a first. I took video of the panorama on the way back, if it doesn't suck I'll post it. The picnic itself was in the round park made by the off-ramp from the bridge to 43 and I-5. Crazy! But it was grassy and there were trees and the six or seven of us had a good time.

The temp job sucks ass, and not in any kind of fun, consensual way. I'm working for a big financial company's local office. The office itself, outside of the files area, is several huge rooms full of desks that all face the same way with no barriers like cubicles or whatever. So everyone can hear what everyone is doing. Which is mostly harassing people about their car loans, as the company where I'm placed is the kind that does the financing when you get it where you bought the car.

The irony of working for a place that does a lot of collections calling is not lost on me.

But my job is to put files away, alphabetize papers to go into files, and put the papers in the files. In other words, the most boring part of any records job. And we can't listen to any kind of music, so there's nothing to block the sound of people talking over the desks or calling people or taking calls.

Most of the women there (including in filing) wear heels. I am once again the only bike in the rack, although one of my coworkers rides her bike to go places sometimes.

The files smell like the bedding I use in my rats' cage, when it's fresh. They're all the same boring shade of brown.

Bleh.

After work I went to Goodwill. The idea was to buy work pants. I tried on twelve pairs of perfectly nice brand-name pants and hated them all for some reason or another. I looked at their skirts, the only one I liked was too small. I did buy two pairs of pants, but neither of them are for work. Both are knicker-length, though. OMG!! I am so excited about one pair, even though they're winter pants. They're wool/nylon lined with polyester, and they're not just short pants, they're actual knickers! At the bottom hem there's buttons and a drawstring to make them loose or tight, and an inside drawstring on the waist, which is loose enough to wear long johns underneath. Apparently the GAP made knickers one year. These are going to be so awesome next winter.

Dinner tonight: edamame. the first of the local strawberries. beer (Deschutes brewery Cinder Cone Red).
