So there's a hearing at City Hall about people who contract with the city of Portland and how or whether they offer health care to their employees and what about small businesses and blah blah okay I admit, I don't really know, but I promise to read up on it soon.

In any case, the operations manager for the office, Kelly, was asked to testify, and was told that she could invite someone else from Old Town Clinic to come and watch. So she invited me. She said I seemed like someone who was into politics and would enjoy it.

The funny thing is, while I have a lot of opinions, and I try to live by my own morals and ethics, I'm usually pretty happy to let someone else do the government stuff, because I find it so frustrating and boring, even though I know it's really important.

I'm still excited to go. :^) I've never been to City Hall.

Since [livejournal.com profile] alicia_stardust isn't in town to suggest it, I think I'm going to have a get-together of some kind for when Stardust comes out on August 10th. I don't know if it'll be here, if anyone else feels like volunteering let me know, I might try to think of a restaurant or something we could all stop at beforehand.

But if anyone has any ideas for specific theatres (being able to buy the tickets ahead of time would be nice) or other places, that would be awesome.

I plan on dressing up as a fairy, as in last year's Halloween costume. Wheee!! (This part crossposted to yahoo.)

I'll be at the theatre on opening night of Stardust, so I will be representing the far south contingent. :D

I think the City thing will get you all riled up. Angry at the state of affairs but excited about the forum, that this is what democracy is supposed to be about. YOu could even get addicted.
My mother in law used to sign in and talk all the time. She would sign in as "Lois Miller, Citizen." She wanted that to be the title of her biography.
I've never been, however.
