aprilstarchild: (I'm too sexy)

1. Was biking home, and going through downtown. Was near the Hawthorne bridge when something felt...different. I scratched my head thinking about it and--

aah. I left my helmet at work.

I know lots of people (gives an evil look to [livejournal.com profile] common_as_stone) don't ever wear helmets. I see non-helmeted people all the time, although they're not the majority. But I still felt kinda naked. And sheepish, in much the same way I do when a light turns red while I'm in the intersection (the lights are timed for cars, not bikes). I mentally frown at people who aren't wearing helmets (especially if they have kids! Gaah! That annoys me so incredibly much!), and here I am riding during rush hour without one. Oy.

I'll be riding without one tomorrow morning too, dammit. I suppose I could ride the bus to work and just carry my helmet home, but....nah.

On a barely-related note, girls with beat-up cut-to-biking-length pants and fitted tshirts and converse sneakers with no socks, and messy hair and big ear piercings, riding fixed-gear bikes...are totally hot. Shit!

[livejournal.com profile] jenhowell got one of the tshirts that has a picture of a bike and the text "Put the fun between your legs" and I'm starting to think I want one too!

2. People are going camping for a music thing in the desert this weekend. But not me. I'll be allll aloooone. In theory I'm going to see VNV Nation tomorrow night--I should call Coral from work tomorrow or something. It's at the Hawthorne Theatre, maybe I'll just bike there in my goth stuff and not drink much. Heh, I haven't worn any of that stuff since Convergence. I love wearing a skirt on a bike, though.

But, yeah: Tonight I'm the one going to bed early, not Jarrod. So strange.

3. Damn, I forgot how much better I liked the XR version of Adderall. Holy effin' shit. Good timing, too; today work was hellacious. We were so insanely short-handed! And so busy!!

But no more "get to work barely awake--suddenly feel really 'up' and talky--able to work for a few hours--suddenly tired and spacey...until my next dose..." I take it, and then I notice a bit later that I'm focusing way better and getting things done like crazy, and it wears off in this barely-perceptible way, so that around four or four-thirty I'm looking at the clock and thinking, "Huh, I should take some short-acting for after work."

I was taking just 10mgs three times a day, but my after-work dose seems best at 5mgs. I'm able to not feel completely exhausted when I get home, I can still accomplish things after work; but I can still eat dinner and get to bed at a reasonable hour.

4. I poked around the Stardust movie website and now I'm mentally running around in circles "Squee!!!"ing like the fangirl I totally am. BPAl came out with some perfumes for Stardust and Good Omens and I totally want half of them. Even though I never remember to wear perfume!

5. Okay. Bedtime. G'night, world.

I'm ordering the Good Omens and Stardust scents right away! I nearly cried when I saw that she had made Yvaine and Fairy Market.

Are you making imps out of them, or just keeping the whole bottles? 'Cause there's no way I could afford to buy the bottles, not if I wanted more than one.

I am getting bottles of many of them, and imps of the rest. If you want to get imps from me (for any I've gotten bottles of or extra imps of) I'd be happy to decant them once the order arrives. :)

Woo! I'll have to look again and see which ones I wanted the most. Ha, there's part of me that wants to say, "any of the ones with patchouli in them" but I think there were others I liked.

*poking around*

I seriously think I'd wear Agnes Mutter. I'd have to smell it.

Both Aziraphale and Crowley (especially Crowley, although it sounds a tad manly-smelling) sound yummy, but War sounds even better.

Definitely want to sniff Yvaine. And Witch Queen. And Fairy Market.

LOL That's...most of them. I can skip Victoria though, I know that lilies give me a bit of an allergic reaction--they make my throat sting!

I think I can hook you up with most, if not all, of those that you listed. I'll email you after they arrive, etc.

Here it's against the law to not wear a helmet. But I know exactly what you mean ... the few times I've forgotten (not that I've biked much in the last few years), it's been so weird.

In Oregon it's illegal if you're under sixteen to go helmet-less.

What drives me crazy is when the parent isn't wearing a helmet but the kid is, whether they're riding on separate bikes or the kid's in a carseat. It's like....so you don't want your kid to die, but you're okay leaving them an orphan? WTF?
