I start on January 2nd. My first paycheck is mailed on January 10th. It's temp-to-hire, so I get my paychecks through the staffing place while I'm a temp, for anywhere from 30 to 90 days, after which I become an official employee have a 90-day waiting period before I get all my insurance. But I'll have Rx insurance, and that's all happy. I'm going to get $11 an hour, which is a buck and a half more than at my old job.
Heh. The woman interviewing me, I could see that she had in her hand, the fax they sent to my old supervisor asking about my previous job performance. He had checked "outstanding" for all but one category, and that was marked "very good." I have a feeling it was attendance, because I had a lateness problem and this past year I got sick a few times.
*squee!* I'll be the only medrecs person in the office, but one of the women in reception used to do it, and the MAs do a lot of it. There are eight doctors and one NP, and it's an OB/GYN office, and they're in a Good Sam building but they're not actually part of Good Sam. And the job description sounded very very much like my old job, but I'll be doing it all myself. Go me.

One of my presents to Jarrod was that, except for my brother's wedding, he gets to pick what we do this weekend. It's a continual frustration for him that my social calender fills up very quickly and often, way ahead of time, because he's someone who definitely prefers to do things spontaneously. But it feels, to him, like we never get to, because I've always already got plans.
So I'll still probably take a celebratory drink, I'll just be somewhere else. ;^)

Jen and me and Zoe all have costumes we're excited about (it's cheaper to get in if you're wearing one, plus for me, any excuse to wear a costume is a good one), and Jarrod doesn't have one and doesn't want one.
