I gave my notice at work yesterday. Wednesday, November 22nd, is my last day.

I'm excited. I'm also scared shitless.

I've got some vacation time saved up (I get paid for unused vacation when I leave), and I finally filed my 2005 taxes and will get a little money from that. So as long as I'm careful, I'll be fine until I get another job. But I definitely plan to think of "finding employment" as my new job.

Between not having a printer here, and sucking at writing them, I'm going to find out if there's a job center thingie in Portland anything like the ones in Hillsboro, where they help you write your resume and give you access to computers and printers and stuff.

Yeah, it's not gonna be a huge Christmas this year, gift-wise. ;^) I'm still getting a tree though, goddammit. A little tree, but a tree. And I'm not putting any breakable ornaments on it for Lucy to destroy, because I know she'll knock it over.

Oh, and I'm on YouTube. Only for a few seconds, but hey. So is Jarrod and ourglasslake and jameslentz. I still have pictures on my cell phone of cupcakes from this event. Isa Chandra is the author of two of my favorite cookbooks, Vegan With a Vengeance and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World.

Hopefully those seconds don't detract from your overall 15 minutes of fame.... then you'd only have, like, 14 minutes and 50 secons of fame left. You've got to be careful with these cameos, they can add up. ;)

LOL I've probably used them all up by now...I've been in the local news several times, both on TV and in the paper. I had a paragraph on the front of the local section just last week!

Nah, I'm not. I've done activist stuff off'n'on for a long time, though. When I was really involved, I got on local TV news a few times (once while explaining a Maypole, of all things). I was in the paper a couple weeks ago, because Al Gore was in town to do his "An Inconvinient Truth" presentation, and some friends and I were leafletting it, telling people that going vegetarian was a tremendously good thing to help slow down global warming (we quoted a study that showed that going from the standard American diet to a vegan diet saves as much carbon as going from a normal car to a hybrid).

Love the icon, were you the one that shrunk the picture? 'Cuz if you did, I'm totally taking it and giving you and CuteOverload the credit.
