Okay, WTF is up with fireworks on a Thursday night? What's the occasion?

I thought one of the neighbors was doing something, or that it was thunder, at first.

EDIT: Looked it up on damnportlanders. The Oregon Symphony is on the waterfront, doing one of those pieces that involves things exploding. I remember a coworker mentioning it. I think it's the 1812 Overture.

There was a band playing that several years ago here in my town but instead of fireworks or cannons (because it's supposed to be cannons) they used guns. It sounded kind of dreadful, on a whole.
Then my grandma was making fun of the band to her hairdresser and it turned out the hairdresser's father was IN THE BAND. Good stuff, grandma.
