I picked up a Peach Pit at People's Co-op today, too, and reading the lists of performers and seeing that map on the back made me get all excited. OMG. Can't wait. I keep saying, "next year I'll stay all weekend!" but next year for sure. *lol*
Wooo!
If you've never been, you have no idea how huge this thing is. here is a map. Make sure you're seeing it full-size and not fitted to your window. See all those teeny tiny square-shaped things with numbers on them? Those are each a booth, selling something, either neato hand-made objects or food. According to the website, there are over 700 artisans, and fifty food booths--and you can stuff yourself all day whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous. There are twelve stages, and there is almost always something on each of them. It ranges from instrumental jam music to rock music to folk music to lots of vaudeville to circus acts to spoken word to puppet shows.
There's political activism booths in several places. There's people in goofy costumes everywhere. There are people on stilts. There's a parade twice a day playing "Teddy Bear's Picnic." There's a Chinese Dragon once a day--I walked with it several years. Everyone gets out of the way for it, too, so it's a great way to literally run all over the fairgrounds in one shot, even if you don't get to see much beyond people's faces!!
Can you tell I'd love everyone to go? At least once in their lives?
