aprilstarchild: (Rocks Fall! Everyone Dies!)

I got six pints of raspberries today from the farm [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 gets his produce from (yay for CSA's!). Not counting the ones we nibbled on constantly, one pint went into the chocolate Coconut Bliss we ate after dinner (J keeps insisting that it's way better than the strawberry and vanilla combo we had a bit ago...sacrilage!!), one pint I gave to my dad, one is on the counter for me to bring to work tomorrow, one is in the fridge to eat in a few days, and two more are in plastic containers in the freezer for me to eat in the near future. They're fun to eat frozen.

One of my coworkers has a birthday this Friday, and we always do something for people's birthdays in my office. I asked what kind of cake she likes, figuring that if I made it, it would be vegan, and taste better than store-bought anyway. Turns out she's not a huge fan of cake and likes banana cream pie. I found a recipe for it on [livejournal.com profile] vegancooking but even if I make it, I might ask someone else to bring a store-bought one in case mine doesn't taste right. I think I'll try at least.

J is mostly getting greens from his CSA still, although now he has lots of broccoli as well, and a ton of peas. I think this weekend we'll attempt to make spanakopita. There's a recipe in Vegan With a Vengeance that the author swears tastes like the real thing, she perfected it with the help of a Greek friend. Yay for phyllo dough!!

I got some lettuce from him, he got a whole head of really nice lettuce. I've been jonesing to have tofurkey sandwiches at work, and now I have everything for them: lettuce, tomato, a red onion, bread, tofurkey, vegenaise, dijon mustard. Oh Holy Hell. *lol* I shoulda grabbed some salt and pepper Kettle chips while I was at it, one sandwich and some raspberries probably won't keep me from being starving later. Maybe I should have got soy yogurt, and put the berries in that.

My fingers smell like garlic from what I made us for dinner. I got the recipe from the Oregonian's FoodDay, I love that section. I find things all the time that are tasty as-is, or easily made vegan. And lots of advice--they had a whole page on greens! And a recipe for strawberry jam, too! Oh Yes.

Work today: Tiring. I'm in the middle. Aka, pulling charts all day and:

*ring ring*

"Records, this is April...*repeating number back to them* ...Which doctor and for what? 'Kay, lemme put you on hold while I see if we have it..."
