Which File Extension are You?
Damn. I can't remember the last time I posted this rarely. I'm alive, I swear!!
This upcoming weekend I'll be doing the catsitting gig. I'm sure I'll get bored at some point and end up on LJ...posting endlessly. Ha.
There was a street fair today at People's. Wheee! Note to self: it's a bad idea to drink a pint of beer on an empty stomach and then go grocery shopping. I didn't overbuy or anything, but it took me a while and I talked too long to someone. Oy.
Best thing ever: coconut milk ice cream (vanilla flavor) and strawberries. Let the ice cream soften and pop it with a butter knife into a larger bowl. Hull a pint of strawberries and cut them in half. Mix in the bowl, mashing here and there. Eat while watching the "Ariel" episode of Firefly, snuggled up on

Speaking of fruit, yesterday when we picked up his half-share from his CSA, I signed up to buy six pints of raspberries next week. Or it four? It's a fuck of a lot of raspberries. I'll be in heaven. The strawberries are already nearing the end of their season, dammit. I need to get to a farmer's market and buy, like, a flat of them or something. Too bad

I'm getting a recipe from a coworker for tarts. They don't seem hard--it's mostly pie crust, which I realize is tricky, but I know can be vegan-ized pretty easily, and the filling is thickened with cornstarch. In any case, I plan on making them a bunch this summer with various kinds of fresh fruit. Although I may just eat a whole thing of strawberries every day until I'm sick of them or broke!
Also good: cook a couple cloves of minced garlic in olive oil. Add a bunch of small-diced shiitake mushrooms (the mushrooms themselves were huge--they didn't cost any different than the smaller ones, it was sheer entertainment value to buy big ones), stir-fry until the mushrooms start letting out juices. Add a bunch of chopped up kale (we had baby kale!) and a bit of water if you need it, and stir-fry until the kale is done. Serve over pasta. Mmmmmmm. Easy, healthy, tasty. Just my kind of thing.
