aprilstarchild: (I'm too sexy)

(no subject)

I haven't checked my friends list yet. That's a lot of reading, and I mostly want to make my post(s) while everything is still fresh in my mind, and then start unpacking and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning....

So Friday, after picking up various items I forgot, [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 and I (who once again will be shortened to J) made our way out. I can't remember if it rained on the way there or not, but let's just say that rain was the definite theme of the weekend. Oh Holy Shit. Rain, rain, rain. It was like Autumn War way back in the fall of '04. In some of the higher-traffic areas, there was mud six inches deep by the end of the weekend.

We were indeed able to get a spot right next to (well, sorta behind) The Leo's Pride and the Rogues. J and I got there first and claimed the spot, [livejournal.com profile] thorongil8 and [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz were next to arrive, with Jeff and [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit later that evening. J and I had gone for a short walk after milling around endlessly, which meant we were of course not around when the the first pair arrived. *rolls eyes* Oy. But we all found each other well enough and figured out how to arrange ourselves and all that, and lo! It was spiffy. We were under some trees and it wasn't grassy but there was lots of duff on the ground, which I think helped keep our spot un-muddy. That and the canopy and we were set.

Spaghetti sauce the first night, via [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz, and I love that stuff, and we fed another vegan too, and ate it again for breakfast the next day.

And J was Teh Awesomeness with the campstoves. Despite being a Pisces.

I felt so bad, I couldn't remember anybody's goddamn names. I would have loved to spend more time introducing my newbie friends to my pirate pals but had trouble remembering the names of said pirate pals. Thankfully none of them took offense when I gave up and started asking. I think I still only remember about half. D'oh.

I don't remember all of what we did the first night--I think we were all pretty wiped from setting up etc. and went to bed relatively early. And it rained. A recurring theme.

Saturday during the day was kinda chill. We all hit up merchant's row and I bought a new bodice. It fits well and is pretty impressive, but it's definitely for days when I feel wenchy, as it's not the most comfortable because the straps keep slipping off my shoulders and it looks best with my chemise off my shoulders, which rather restricts my movements. I'm apparently very tiny, it was a children's bodice. Still has boning. I may be able to take the straps off, they're slip-stitched on, I think. After touring merchant's row (which was really more ameoba-shaped anyway) we kinda sat around under the canopy trying desperately to stay warm, and J and I had to leave.

After a quick stop at J's house to shower because we'd be around people who hadn't been camping, we picked up [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and [livejournal.com profile] jameslentz and took off for NIN. It was at the Clark County Amphitheatre, which thankfully is easy to find from I5. We realized after we got in that a bunch of people were in the wrong line, so we ended up being almost the first people to get in to our section. We ended up with seats in the front row near the middle of our section, there was nobody in our way.

TV on the Radio was the first band, they're only okay. But the lead singer waves his arm around while singing in a way that's rather amusing. Bauhaus was a lot of fun. They're not something I'd normally just sit there and listen to, but I did recognize some of it, and it's very danceable. Our section wasn't standing up for Bauhaus (although the 100 section sure was), so I mostly just danced in my seat. The fact that I was all adrenaline happy didn't hurt, I'm sure. I was so excited...I had a huge beer and part of another and some french fries and later part of J's coffee and wooo I was so excited I was probably vibrating. I also peed like crazy, partially because I was scared to death of having to pee during NIN.

So as I get back from my last bathroom/cigarette break (I think I ran into [livejournal.com profile] sagcat several times...the first time he was with [livejournal.com profile] ninja_pidgeon. He hit me up for a cigarette, which I knew he'd do, of course. Apparently he only smokes around me, *lol*), the lights are still up...there's an awning over everything but the lawn seats. There's a metal screen that came down after Bauhaus, yeah? A really open metal kinda grille-looking thing.

But within a short time of my getting back to my seat, we hear a very familiar voice, and and there's an arm coming through the screen, and then the lights come on behind the screen, and there he is, mic in hand, arm through the screen while he leans on it. I can't remember, I think he was doing the first track from The Fragile.

[livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and I start screaming like Beatles fangirls in 1964. Um, not exaggerating. We're jumping and down and shrieking. Crazy shit. We sang along to almost everything (well, she did, I haven't sat and listened to all of Pretty Hate Machine, and he did one song that we believe was a cover). I bounced around and danced a lot. The lightshow was pretty fucking awesome, the band was damn good. It....I can't describe it. Just fucking wonderful. During March of the Pigs he threw at least one mic stand into the audience. During that song or another one he was headbanging getting really into it and I thought, any second now he's just going to start humping it or something, and my brain will explode.

So, yeah: J and [livejournal.com profile] jameslentz were on either end, with [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and I just dancing and bouncing. I think I may have been a tad more enthusiastic about that than she was, but I just decided I didn't care if I looked completely stupid and let myself go freakazoid about the whole thing.

They did a bunch of crowd-pleasers. Unfortunately he/they can't play every song that every person wants to hear. I was really hoping for either the title song for The Fragile, or Starfuckers Inc, or the last two track on With Teeth. Alas, alas. But he did do the first song, and Closer, and Hurt, and Head Like a Hole (I'm pretty sure he'd have to play those three or end up with a riot *lol*).

Oh, and fun tshirts I saw people wearing: One girl had bought those fuzzy stick-on letters and made a tshirt that just said "I *heart* Trent Reznor". I so want to do that. I saw three girls wearing shirts that just had a star next to the word "FUCKERS".

They had forbidden cameras, so I didn't bring one, although I realized after I got there that I totally could have snuck one in. But I did have my cell phone. I wasn't the only one snapping shots with a cell phone camera. Cell phone cameras, however, do not have zoom, and the screens on either side weren't doing any close-ups, dammit.

Um, they're tiny, but I swear that little dark spot near the middle is Trent!

The screen, after the concert had ended and the lights came up and people were slowly leaving. I was shaky and grinning like an idiot and sad it was over...that has to have been the shortest two hours or so of my goddamn life.

I need to cut off the edges of this one so you see just my face and the NIN logo and have an icon, yup.

On the way back to Portland, [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and I kept obsessing about Trent's hair. Or lack thereof. He started shaving his head not long ago. It breaks our goddamn hearts--he was hotter with hair. He's still hot, but occasionally comes too close to resembling the doctor from LOST. He's also got huge freaking muscles. It's almost obscene. I gotta admit, I likes me some skinny goth boys. *le sigh* Oh well.

After we left we went to Dot's in SE Portland. I've been there before, like a lot of places in that part of SE Portland they have food for everybody, and have a good selection of vegan food. In any case, when we walk in, I notice a girl that looks familiar....is it? It is! It's Stormy!

To make a semi-long story short: [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit has a daughter who is now in college. Waaay back in the day, said daughter had a friend who would tell you, as far back as apparently middle school, that she wanted to be a stripper when she grew up. Well, she did. I used to have a membership to Suicide Girls, and I remember seeing her on it. When BUST magazine did an article about SG a few issues ago, Stormy was mentioned (btw: SG is really yucky. And the guy who runs it is apparently a complete jackass), but not quoted.

There's a picture of her over here. The picture is risque but probably work safe. The website it's on is not.

When I noticed her, I pointed her out to everyone else. Waddya know, we were seated next to her and her, I assume, boyfriend. She kept getting up and running around, I think socializing, I could be wrong. [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake told me to say something to her, but what was I going to say? As we finish eating, she scooches closer to us and says, "Can I ask you guys something totally random?" and I replied, "Only if I get to ask you something too." She wanted to know if we remembered who was married to Uma Thurman. And then something about the movie Waking Life. I said, "My turn. Do you remember Bianca from junior high? Because I'm friends with her mom." Her eyes get huge, and she jumps up and runs over and hugs me (tits to my head, because I was sitting down, and I ain't complaining) and starts going on about how "OMG I miss her and OMG she made my junior high years SO much easier and you can tell her that and tell her I said HI and she's so awesome!!!11!!" She asked how I knew her and called [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit and I "you crazy pagans." She eventually grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down her cell phone number and asked for mine, and told me to text-message her any Sunday by ten pm, and myself and three friends can go watch her dance at Dante's.

So, uuhhhh, who wants to be really tired for work some Monday? Near the beginning of this kinda stupid bit of a Playboy TV show or something they show her dancing at Devil's Point. It's very definitely Not Work Safe.

Oh, and I mentioned the BUST article--she said they wanted to interview her but she couldn't do it because at the time, she was still so incredibly pissed that she didn't think she'd do a very good interview.

So....yeah. Eventful evening. And that was before J and I drove back to Gathering and I intended to just say hi to everyone while in my mundane clothes (including my oh-so-lovely new NIN tour shirt) and go to bed, but Saturday night is always the party night, so I got stopped by drunken friends repeatedly. Including Tyson's younger brother, who I had never seen drink, ever, not even the wine at Sabbath dinners. He was also doing face plants into an ex-girlfriend's cleavage--his current girlfriend was in bed. I think my eyes almost fell out of my head--saying "hm, that's a tad out of character for him" would be a criminal understatement.

Aaaaand my shoulder hurts from typing for so long. I hope LJ lets me post something this long. Heh. And if my dad checks the history or the list of downloads he might get interesting ideas--I saw some, uh, interesting stuff while trying to find images of Stormy. *lol*

I'll finish tomorrow. Whew. I've edited this post like half a doze times because I keep forgetting to mention something or I screwed up something.

"..I haven't sat and listened to all of Pretty Hate Machine..."

WHAT?!!

FOR SHAME!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I know! I'm not worthy!!

[livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake has everything, all the Halos and all that. She plans to burn me a copy. Oh Yes.

[identity profile] vashtiabukhalil.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad you had fun, you COCK!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not just a COCK, I'm a Holy COCK!!

So are you, y'know. *lol*

[identity profile] ourglasslake.livejournal.com 2006-05-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I may have been a tad more enthusiastic about that than she was

Whaaat?? I was bouncing, like, TWICE as high as you were!!! I just wasn't dancing per se. ;)

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, okay.

I wasn't sure, and decided to err on the side of making you sound more sane than myself. *LOL*

Good lord. He said somewhere recently that he doesn't want to tour again for a while, which makes me Oh So Sad. Next time I'm either shelling out for 100 section seats, seeing more than one show (road trip to Seattle or something) or both.

[identity profile] ourglasslake.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lol, sane? Me? Wasn't I the one talking about how the sight of his arm about made me explode or something?

I definitely think either or both of those options would be good. I'm also serious about making shirts with you. I need to make a t-shirt for the craft swap I'm in, too, so we should do it soon. I just got a new color cartrige for my printer!! ::dangles it in front of you::

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I'm open this weekend, baby.

I was thinking this weekend would be a good time for me to work on my room or make donuts. If you help me with one you can, uh...help me create and consume the other. *lol* I have to run it by my parents, but it should be okay. The iron's currently downstairs so if you print stuff ahead of time we can iron them on here.

*LOL* I'm trying to think of what I want on a shirt. NIN stuff pops to mind, like that image you posted with the hearts on it, but he looks so different now!!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and one of my coworkers was at the show! This girl named Kim doesn't have any friends who like NIN, but her brother randomly asked if she wanted to go. She apparently was sitting right next to the people smoking pot all through the show. She didn't see me.

Thank GODS, because I'd've been totally embarassed if I knew she saw me going bonkers for Trent. *lol*

[identity profile] ourglasslake.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
DAMMIT. I have to work this weekend. Like, all weekend. Like, I'm going there Saturday morning and not coming back until Sunday night. You're welcome to come hang out there, and I'm sure the kids would *love* to make t-shirts, too, but I know that's asking a lot. But that doesn't really help you with your room.

I am definitely doing my heart Trent pic, and maybe something a little less, uh, girly, too. I need some new t-shirts anyway, so I might as well stock up!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Damn! Some other time, then, hopefully soon. But I have most of June free, holy shit! The rest of the summer I have some hard choices to make. :^( There are so many fun things going on!

[identity profile] ourglasslake.livejournal.com 2006-05-31 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, mystery song is actually on the Sin EP, so...not a cover!

Also also...email me yr story!

[identity profile] aprilstarchild.livejournal.com 2006-06-01 01:02 am (UTC)(link)

Email sent. :^)
