aprilstarchildEveryone is currently either taking boffers apart to repair them or fighting with them (there's an example of a few friends fighting with boffers here).
But there are four events that the ship, The Leo's Pride, is going to: Pirate's Gathering (we're constab aka security for this one, which will be interesting and fun--I wanna work gate for a while, for sure), Seadogs (not the same weekend as Fairyworlds this year), The Long and Short of It (a "sanctioned" aka official SCA event, and we were actually invited--the people hosting it want to bring the Pirates more into the SCA, including making sure that everyone else knows we are period), and Acorn War (another sanctioned event).
Near as I can tell, none of them conflict with any other plans I have. *squee!!*
Part of us becoming more visible in the SCA, is that our Captain wants everyone on-ship to have official SCA personas. Which means I have to find historical evidence of my name existing in the time period/ethnicity I'm going for. I'm not sure about "Ann" to be honest, most Puritans gave their daughters names like Thankfulness and Chastity and Prudence. But I shouldn't have any problems finding books about when the Puritans were in Holland before leaving for Plymouth. So I may end up with a name change. Although Ann Virgynne has been a fun name, mostly because everyone laughs when they hear it, if they know me at all. *giggle*
Blargh, I'm going to have to pay SCA dues. It's not a lot, but grr. At least I get a newsletter out of it. *lol*
The site for Gathering has showers and flush toilets and all that. Dunno if there's going to be enough, though, considering they expect between 800 and 1,000 people. And the Captain said to ask Loki, but there's probably room for my miniature encampment to be next to the ship, which'll be cool because I do want to participate in many of the ship's activities. For instance, boffer lessons. They need everyone to be able to guard the ship and all that. I'm useless in a fight currently.
I should get back to helping everyone, but I thought it would be fun to post while I'm all excited about all the events.

I think the gate fee is $15 for the whole weekend...most of the time there isn't a day fee because they have no way of knowing who's there for a day or for the whole weekend.
We need to figure out food etc, so far as I know there's you and Richard, me and Jarrod, and Strega; and I offered to feed Athir's girlfriend because she's vegan too and that way the ship's galley doesn't have to worry about feeding all of one vegan.
I've told the Captain that you'd probably want to do poi when Fire and Steel perform, he liked the idea. :^)
