(no subject)

Still feels like someone used sandpaper to grind a hole into the back of my esophagus. AKA, damn my throat hurts. I wish I didn't loathe the taste of menthol so much--it has to hurt pretty bad for me to get over that enough to eat some Halls or something. It seriously doesn't matter which brand or which flavor, I hate the taste of menthol. I sometimes end up eating Fisherman's Friend cough drops because there's so much menthol in them that at least I can just eat one and then not have another for a good while, instead of something milder like Ricolas where I just have to pop in one after another after another...

Slept late and had strange-ass dreams, and kept waking up with my throat hurting some more. Gaaaah. Vicks helps. I can't stand the taste of menthol, no; but for some reason the smell doesn't bug me. I rub it just under my nose and breathe and then aaaaaah that's better.

My strange dreams have put my brain in a very strange place, and today feels very weird.

And I have Depeche Mode's Halo stuck in my head. WTF? *starts listening to the Violater album...again* Damn. I want to go to Noir this weekend. *checking planner* Nothing scheduled this weekend. Does anyone else want to go out this Saturday night? Eh? EH??

Halls makes these cough drops called Fruit Breezers that have no menthol in them. They are pretty good. Not sure if they are vegan or not.

They use pectin in them instead of menthol. They also don't work worth shit, in my experience. *lol*

Thanks for trying to help, though.

Slippery elm tea is better than menthol.

I've never had it work. :^( Traditional Medicinals, yes?

Don't buy the premade crap, it doesn't have enough slippery elm in it. Get some of the root either powdered or chunks. Steep it for 20 minutes. It will be very dark. Add a bit of honey (if you eat honey) or some type of sweetener and drink it as slowly as possible, but while it is still hot. Honey will feel really good on your throat also, but again I can't remember if you eat it.

Before bed, I'd recommend a hot lemon toddy. 1/2 cup of warm water, shot of brandy or whisky, juice from half a lemon and honey to taste.

*ouch* I hope you get better soon!
