(no subject)

I'm going to join in the chorus and say I like Pink's song/video "Stupid Girls". So, there, or something. *nod*

You can watch it on the website...I think it's quicktime, I could be wrong, but in any case it's right there on the front page.

Today:

Bank: I'm going to get a secured credit card, so I need $200 to start it with. I know my main reason for getting one, should be to build up my credit rating. My real reason is so that I can buy my own shit online without whining to family and friends. I can't spend more money than I give them, so it's pretty safe. And I checked out the actual card--their fees aren't astronomical, they report to all the major credit bureaus, that kind of thing. I'd get one through my credit untion, but they don't offer them any more.

I also need to get the routing number for my savings account so I can do my taxes online. I did them on paper already (yay, between state and federal I'm getting around $500), but you get the money so much faster when you do it online, and supposedly since I'm a 1040EZ, there are places that do it free. The money's going to end up going to PCC. Damn me and my trying to be responsible. *grumble* But I promised myself that once I get school paid off, I can buy my own harp, so there's that.

Costco: Adderall. Need me some Adderall. I'm running out. Costco on a Saturday, I must be freaking insane.

unlike most people I think credit cards are wonderful. congratulations on taking charge and doing something that will make your future a little bit easier. I think that you will do a wonderful job with them. As you know they are just tools to be used. Hopefully used for good.

I've had debit cards before, but never credit cards. I used to joke that I was genetically predisposed to abuse them, my family has a bad record with them. When I was younger my parents ended up seeing credit counselors, the whole bit.

But I think I can be smart with them. After six months or a year, I'll try to get a normal one through my credit union--they'll have better interest rates etc.

have you tried to apply for a student card? If you are student then you are almost garenteed that they will give you one. That is if you don't have any credit. If the problem is that you have bad credit then you are doing the right thing.

I'm not a student and I have really shitty credit. A secured card is way better than an unsecured at this point--the only unsecured cards I qualify for, have really really high interest rates and/or fees. I got an offer for one where the feels added up to several hundred dollars a year!

Email me with the name of this one. I was going to do this other one that requires $300 so I'd like to compare the fees. $200 would be easier.
