Found via a post in [livejournal.com profile] veganpeople:

Milk isn't good for your bones.

I've heard of the China Study, I should really find a way to read it.

Ok, I'm a big old skeptic. That said, in an attempt to avoid taking a statin drug, I read the book and am doing the "plan", which is amazingly easy to follow. I'm a diabetic, and I was particularly skeptical about the claims made in that chapter. Previous attempts to go vegetarian have always resulted in higher blood sugars, but those attempts always included dairy, because I believed the propaganda.

I'm 3 weeks in and my blood sugars are *perfect* for the first time in my adult life, and I've had to cut my insulin in half. Stunning, is all I can say. I'm really looking forward to my bloodwork at the end of Feb.

Not that I know you...but that's awesome :). And it makes sense milk is food for a calf that quadropiles it's size in the first year. One we are not cows. Two we are not babies. Three I for one do not want to increase in sizex4 yearly! :P

You might want to try switching to soymilk on your cereal. Silk is a brand that most people like the taste of. You can also cook with it in an recipe that asks for milk--as long as you don't get vanilla flavor (vanilla mashed potatoes?).
