ourglasslake and jenhowell, deejayed by DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid. Oh man, I'm going to look for more stuff that they deejay for. We had such a blast!
The music is a lot of fun. The crowd is really varied--there's more older/suburban types than on Friday nights, and it's about a third Indian. One woman dancing on the stage was in a Punjabi dress (a knee-length dress over pants and with a long veil) and dancing around with the veil part.
I have never seen the Fez so crowded. They literally sold out, and people couldn't get in until someone else left. Why they only have it on the last Saturday of every month, I have no idea. There was almost no way to dance without wacking into people. I ended up rolling my skirt shorter and stuffing most of my shirt under the bottom of my bra because it was so damn hot.
Smoking isn't allowed on the top floor for this. Near the end I still saw it here and there, but it was rare.
We're going next month if at all possible. It was just too much fun.
The funniest thing I heard though, was a Bhangra remix of the song Poison. As in, "that girl is poison..." Gave me the giggles.
I'm atjenhowell's. She's making vegan french toast and quiche. I haven't had either yet, so I'm all excited to try them. I need that Vegan With a Vengeance cookbook, it looks good.
