go go gadget craigslist

Things I keep forgetting about sharing a house: Most of the people who would be renting to me, aren't going to care that I don't have a checking account, as long as I pay the rent. Many of them are not going to ask for security deposits. They're also rather inexpensive.
In other words, I could move a lot sooner than I was planning. Go me. :^) Need to chat with
ruby_wings about that--there was a reason we all had the date of April 1st pegged for leaving.

Definite advantage: location!! I'd be walking/biking distance from, lessee,
jenhowell, People's Co-op, Katrina and Marty,
galactogogue,
sagcat and
ninja_pidgeon,
ourglasslake and
jameslentz, Euphoria Studios (woo bellydance!)....am I forgetting anybody/thing? Oh yeah, like two or three buslines. Holy moly. Also: cheap.

Neato looking house. Doesn't talk about their eating habits, and most places that are vegetarian or mostly-so, tell you. There are so many houses out there full of vegetarians and/or vegans, I can be pretty picky on that one.
There are eight gazillion posts to that part of craigslist every day. Heh.
Yah, I'll figure out the job thing after I move. Admittedly, there is a receptionist position open for the registration desk downtown. I keep waffling on whether or not to apply. I think I will. I also need to write up my dang resume. One way or another, I'm not going to be working where I do now...it's just too dang far from where I want to live. I never did get around to applying at OHSU, ironically enough.
That first house? To get to work at eight am, I'd have to leave at 6:40. Ouch.
I've wanted to live in SE Portland for around five years. It's about time I up and did it. Every time I think about it, I get all excited, and kinda like....omg, am I really going to do that? Finally? I almost can't believe it.
Things to always keep in mind: How noisy is it in there? What kind of internet access is available? Is it a community kinda situation (which is what I'm looking for), or do people pretty much ignore each other?

Date: 2006-01-25 04:10 am (UTC)1 hour and 20 minutes on the bus is not really that long, but how long does it take you now?

Date: 2006-01-25 04:16 am (UTC)It takes me a little over half an hour now: a little over ten minutes of walking, take the max two stops over, and then fifteen minutes of walking. It was 45 min. from where I lived in the boonies--about ten minutes into town, half an hour on the bus.
I like the fact that they're musicians. Just hopefully not, y'know, rock drummers. *LOL* I'm going to call them up.

Date: 2006-01-25 06:20 am (UTC)On a good day to get home, sometimes an hour, bad day? Longer.
On the bus at least you don't have to worry about driving, you can read, knit, whatever you want to do.

Date: 2006-01-25 06:22 am (UTC)In any case, it's still a rather large chunk out of my day, just on transit.

Date: 2006-01-25 06:24 am (UTC)If you take max now, why would you have to take the bus, then max, then another bus? Wouldn't it just be easier to get on the correct max train? Then it would be a bus, then max, then a walk??

Date: 2006-01-25 05:15 am (UTC)That is so cool you will be moving to SW Portland. I know you've been talking about doing so for a while. I hope, when you do move there, that you love it and you can find a good job near by. Keep us up dated.
PS: Also sorry for my LJ absence for a while. It's been really good catching up with everyone again. Also I love ^__^ your JK Rowling icon with the Rocks Fall, lol that's great! One of these days I really need to get me an icon.
