(no subject)

I've always rolled my eyes at people who complain about how much it rains here. But, man, this is too much even for me. The fact that my shoes are so not waterproof, doesn't help. Also, today I wore my too-long corduroy pants. So the bottom six inches or so are just soaked, and my socks are wet. Even though I avoided all the actual puddles.

My shoes are not going to dry before tomorrow. I took out the insoles. My current task at work doesn't involve lots of standing, so I'm going to wear my goddamn docs to work tomorrow, thankyouverymuch.

eh, the only time the rain bothers me is when I get completely soaked to the bone at the beginning of my work day and have to spend the next 10 hours dripping. Or if my books get damaged.

Otherwise, I pretty much frolic around grinning and telling people umbrellas are for Californians. =P

When I ride the bus to school, I ride over Ross Island Bridge, and for the past few days I've looked out the window at Ross Island, and thought, "something is wrong here!" But I couldn't figure it out until yesterday...half of the island is underwater, and it's a totally different shape than usual.

And ew, the pants thing! That happened to me yesterday, too.

I work in rain all day. Most of the time in a three inch puddle. I have been doing it for so long that I don't even think about it anymore.

One thing that helps is that I have a pair of eight inch Danner boots. The name of them is actually "rainforest". They have gortex liners and they never get wet.

I also never head out to work with out a layer of polypropylene under all the other work cloths.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of galoshes. I just need something to keep my shoes and pants dry on my walk to work.
