I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed I shaved my legs. o_O
That doesn't seem odd until you realize I haven't shaved my legs or armpits since I was seventeen. But in my dream, there I was, except I was using cheap conditioner for shaving lotion. Also, I only shaved my calves, not my knees. Even in my dream I remembered that I always cut the crap out of my knees when I tried to shave them. Always! Goddamn. That was a huge reason I quit.
Main reason I quit: I don't like the feeling of stubble on my legs, and I was unwilling to do it every day. Just takes too dang long. But I never really got the hang of it anyway, and few things sting more than anti-perspirant on freshly/badly shaved pits. Or lotion on cut knees. I think have I have sensitive pits anyway--dang near everything makes me itch after a few days, so I switch through multiple deoderants.
Once when using a double razor my hand slipped, and I had two three-inch long parallel scars on one calf for that summer. Bled like mad.
I have relatively "girly" body hair, so if I'm wearing a skirt most people don't even notice unless they get close up or I tell them. *shrug* I'm thinking about waxing my pits--I'm way more self-conscious about those, what with my fondness for tank top/halter tops when it's hot, and the bellydance thing.

Date: 2005-07-14 02:04 am (UTC)I've shaved and not shaved various times in my life. Moab Utah and Boulder Colorado for example are places where one need not worry about shaving. I also have very fine girly hair and it's pretty much blonde (with a strawberry cast to it) for the most part, especially if I'm in the sun.
I do tend to shave up here...

Date: 2005-07-14 04:33 am (UTC)I guess it's different for everyone. But four weeks without anything is damn tempting; I might try it again, only get it profesionally done. Hmm...

Date: 2005-07-16 06:25 am (UTC)I've thought about getting my bikini line done too. Not the whole thing, just the edges. The older I get the more that shit spreads out, which honestly kinda freaks me out--nobody warned me about that one!! *lol*
That, I know, will be far more painful than my pits. My pit hair is relatively fine and close together and in a small patch. My bikini line is a different story. Ow ow ow!! I tried shaving that once and will neverdo that again. It was horrible.

Date: 2005-07-16 04:22 pm (UTC)I use Parissa. You can find it at, say, Fred Meyer with all the shavers and Nair etc. It runs about $7 or so. They have a mini pot of wax that you melt (it's not that hot, just warm) or they have the wax strips. Both work well for me.

Date: 2005-07-16 09:37 pm (UTC)Ever do the Nair thing? I'm allergic. I tried it in high school, and it itched and itched, even after I washed it off with soap. I ended with my legs covered in calamine lotion.
