I should probably tell you why I'm at home, eh??

Had allergies this morning. For some reason I can't fathom, they were far worse than usual. I took a wad of toilet paper with me to the bus stop--what I thought would last me until work, was useless halfway to the bus stop. On the buses I used up several really scratchy paper towels. At work, it got even worse. I was going three times slower than usual because I kept having to stop and blow my nose. I took another zyrtec but it wasn't helping. I was beginning to become out of it and dizzy. At one point I sat down to get a chart and literally started to nod off--thankfully I snapped out of it before I was caught. I was so light-headed that I began to worry I would faint or something. I kept sitting down and staring into space before I would remember what I was doing. I pulled the wrong numbered folders several times for chart assembly.

So I took an early break and sat down, figuring maybe it would go away. My supervisor came upstairs, because I'd been on break for twenty minutes. I explained the situation and she told me to go home. Very firmly. I called my dad and woke him up and he came and got me, which was very sweet of him.

Goddamnit. I had the appointment today to get contacts. So much for that. Also wanted to see a movie later on....I might anyway.

I took two benadryl. Not as sleepy as I thought I would be. Still sleepy though. Nap sounding good right about now, but I don't know where I'll be able to find a place to sleep with people home.

So that's twice that I've had to not work because of allergies. This year's allergies suck. Allegra and zrytec just aren't working anymore. Perhaps I'll try one of the things you stick up your nose. I think they're based on steroids, I have no idea. I also don't know why I'm more allergic to [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz's cats than my parents' cat or [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit's cat.

In any case, it's frustrating the hell out of me and my poor sore red nose.

Mine have been terrible as well (must be a PNW thing) in addition to sneezing my head off, I've been battling an ongoing sinus headache that wants to go migraine on me.

I know people who normally don't have allergies at all, who are sneezy right now. It's insane.

I think everyone has been having extra trouble this year. I've had extra sinus/allergy trouble, and Nathan is having extra kitty allergies esp. around Coral.

I'm not as allergic to cats as Nathan is, but being in her apartment all week....oy!

Claritin doesn't do shit for me, and it's really expensive. I can get zyrtec and allegra as samples, and benadryl is cheap--a costco bottle of a couple hundred is three dollars.

allergies suck.

I think it's pollen or something

because I and everyone I know is having sinus problems.
FYI the stuff that goes up your nose--Flonase, isn't a steroid but a histamine blocker.
Its good you didn't go for contacts today, because with the allergies and stuff, you wouldn't have gotten a good fitting, with the swollen membraines and watering and iritation.

I wish my girls didn't hit everyone's allergies so hard... I'll have to research and see what I can do about it. Because I definitely want you to keep coming over!

I honestly think it was something else. I was fine all day yesterday and slept well--except for waking up once to blow my nose.

So I'm thinking something's pollen level jumped or something.

It still wouldn't hurt me to try and find ways to reduce the dander in my house; though I am glad to hear that you think it may have been something else. :)
