This may be TMI, but just so you know?
UTI's are truly, no fun at all.
On the other hand, found out that 1. simple lab work doesn't require an office visit or a copay and can be done on my morning break with time to spare, 2. not having an allergy to sulfa drugs is a good thing, as my antibiotic was a whopping $7, 3. when I'm obviously truly ill, not only does my crappy lazy coworker offer to cover my unfinished work, but my crappy supervisor doesn't debate me when I ask to leave early:
"I have a UTI and I'm in a great deal of pain. May I leave early?"
"Yes."
Also, there's a nifty med that's OTC that is a gift from the gods, for Lo! My antibiotics won't truly kick in until tomorrow, and if I had to live in that much pain, I'd be considering various ways of ceasing conciousness for a short while. Also, I'm glad I had Cherie with me, as she was knew what the name of the drug was, and knew the prescription dose, so was able to tell me I could safely take twice the listed dosage. Which is good--because it still hurts but it's tolerable.
Also, most people seem unaware that most cranberry juice has added sugar or other juices blended in. No, I want plain, straight, cranberry juice. Not a juice cocktail. Just cranberry. I knew the brand and found it at New Seasons. I water it down a bit, but still: I'm glad I like tart things anyway.
Lesson learned: When I think to myself, Hm, I haven't been drinking enough water lately....that's the time to start obsessively drinking large quantities of water.

Date: 2005-03-14 02:52 am (UTC)As far as the cranberry juice, this stuff is just ....cranberry juice, and it's red. I know to look out for carmine--it's pretty common in grapefuit juice combos.

Date: 2005-03-13 08:06 am (UTC)I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. It's such a bummer to have to take medicine and deal with feeling crapy. I hope you feel better soon my friend! Also I'm a big supporter of the cran juice too. I find Camimille (oow I spelled that very wrong sorry)tea is really great too. It helps me relax. Can't remember if you said you were a tea drinker or not.
To switch gears to a totally different subject, although I guess it might make you feel better(:! I have a recipe you might like. I got it from one of hippy books I have and it makes a very yummy sounding VEGAN chocolate cake ^_^! The book says it is specifically a vegan chocolate cake, and it looks really simple. I haven't tried to make it yet myslef. But I will one of these days hopefully. If that sounds cool I could fine a way to get it to you. Maybe post it in my LJ or something to that affect. Well talk care my friend. Hope to see ya soon.
Hayley ^_^
