Had a meeting-type thing at the downtown office...a second orientation, basically. We got to meet all the heads of the various departments. Including the (dum dum dum....) CEO. Was sorely tempted to bitch him out for our lack of prescription coverage. Talked to some other new people and we all agreed that we'd've had second thoughts about taking the job if they'd told us up front about that. None of us realized it until we got our paperwork in the mail after being offered the job.

In any case, got out at four and had about two hours to kill. Walked into Buffalo Exchange and tried on twenty things and bought nothing. I meant to go in looking for work clothes, but the overhead music was basically the playlist from Friday nights at the Fez. So I ended up trying on mostly short skirts. Okay, get this: I wear a medium or large in junior-fitted teeshirts, but every skirt I tried on, was too big. Even the smalls. Holy crap. Either that, or I just can't get used to wearing them really low. They hang down lower in front and then my ass makes them shorter in the back and it's just not fucking attractive. But none of them are meant to fit on your waist these days, or if they do, my ass makes them look funny. Grrr. I mean, I know it's not that big deal in the scheme of things, and I know I really don't have much to complain about with my physical body, but goddamn, you'd think I could find a short skirt at a used clothing store to wear dancing that didn't make me look weird. Maybe I should find a place that doesn't cater to people who wear junior sizes. My ass and chest are officially too big to fit junior clothes, even with me losing weight.

Made the mistake of walking into Lush. Am now broke until Thursday unless I drop by the bank. Also, for once I got samples. I never do, usually. Maybe because it was close to closing? Maybe just got the right salesperson? Who knows. In any case, I bought a massage bar and Noriko soap (yeay they still had it and OMG it smells so good) and a Seanick shampoo bar because the one I bought at my first Lush visit finally started falling apart. He gave me some sample bits of Fresh Farmacy (supposedly better for acne than Herbalism, must try), a little sample tub of Dreamwash (same active ingredients, more of a body cleanser with a lotion consistency), and a bath bomb. I don't know what kind it is, I couldn't find it in the catalog. It's white with greenish bits at one end and smells like cinnamon. I think it might be a leftover from the Christmas ones.

Just so you know, I am still convinced they put something in everything Lush makes so it's addictive. There's just no other explanation. I didn't really need a damn thing I bought (the huge bottle of Narcotick I have doubles as shampoo). And yet, I took the streetcar from work just to visit Lush. There's a smell in there that's just a combination of everything there and it sticks to you and the bag and the outside of all the wrappers and whatnot and then you sniff it for hours.

Hoowee time for bed. I have to be up at six. Which is an ungodly hour.

I've found I get samples if I pretend to be wishy-washy about purchasing a product. :P

That never worked for me in the past...but this time the guy was in there all alone, just me and him. Usually I go when the place is packed.

I asked him to cut me a smaller chunk of Fresh Farmacy, and he just sliced some slivers and gave them to me. It seems to suds a lot while hardly touching the bar, so I'm going to get a good trial period. Gods know, Herbalism didn't do jack for me. I did figure out how to use it, and my face felt smooth after, but it didn't clear me up. Also, doesn't get makeup off at all.

Fresh Farmacy also smells divine, so I may end up using it on my whole body.

just ask. They'll give you a little sample of nearly anything (not the fresh stuff and maybe not the massage bars) if you just ask :)

I'm never been brave enough to just ask for stuff outright. Keep in mind, you and some other EG'ers tend to get really large purchases in one shot. Of course they're going to give you samples--more stuff for you to buy! But I often go in there and have to very carefully consider what I buy because of the price, so I'm not as big a source of profit for them.

On the other hand, I'm a hell of a lot more likely to shell out the cash for something I've already tried. When something is pricey (like Herbalism) I'm not going to buy a lot of it until I know I like it.

BTW? Sod soap and Ocean Salt aren't vegan. I don't know what's in them that isn't....must ask one day.

I buy in large quantities for 2 reasons.

1) I don't have to make as many trips to Lush and therefore spend more money.

and

2) Because I'm always out of something that I use alot.

I think we should all get together and swap lush that we don't use/like.

*lol* I should ask if there's a discount for buying a whole tube's worth of Jungle conditioner, so I can just slice bits off for myself. I love that stuff so much it's unnatural. I might try the Veganese though...I sniffed it and it's nice stuff.

A swap would be good. I can't stand the Oh La La soap. I love lavender, but it's sorta too sweet smelling.

I wouldn't worry too much about asking for a sampleeven if you aren't buying that much... It's Lush, I guarantee they won't mind. They might start to mind if you came in for a sample of the same thing every week; but otherwise I can't imagine them worrying about it. The time I got a sample of Enzymion (30% a pop for a not so big jar) I didn't actually buy that much. I think I was just there for a pot of Big.

enzymion is one I want to try but won't shell out the cash for until I know I like it. But if it works, man oh man I'd buy it. *lol* I like the idea of a non-oily face.

I have a pot you can have some of; I use only a tiny bit of it every once in a while so it's lasting *forever*

Yeay!

BTW: Can't wait for your part. Heard a Joy Division song on the radio that they play at the Fez and realized I hadn't actually been there in over a month. Which is a travesty, I tell you!

The bath bomb is called kisseltoes. It has citric acid, orange oil, and cinnamon leaf oil in it. :)

I don't eat the green candy thingie, though people on the Lush forums actually do eat the candies that they put in the bombs. Um, eek?

Well, if the bathtub is clean, and you haven't gotten in yet, and you rinsed them well....

But, I agree with you. Bleh.

Mmmmmm...Lush :)
I use the Fresh Farmacy bar and it's AWESOME...I'd advise washing your face with that first and then using the Herbalism scrub (I use the Angels on Bare skin, but herbalism is the same thing for oilier skin and to me it's not a cleanser, it's a scrub! ;)

My favorite soaps there are the Sea Vegetable, Alkmaar and Figs and Leaves...I'm just so glad they came to Portland :)

As far as soaps go, I have to be careful, or I'm going to end up with eight bars of soap!

I love Noriko. It's sorta floral/fruity but only very faintly and non-obnoxious. It's got sake, seaweed, and soy, and is a pretty white with bits of gel fruity spots.
