I hope the We'Moon people are giving away their extras at Paganfaire again this year. The little Lord of the Rings calender I've been using (abusing?) has teeny weeny spots for the days, and I'm running out of room, with my busy schedule and whatnot.
Talking to my church today didn't go as well as I would have hoped. Next time I need to go up and explain something, I'm going to write it down (or at least the important points) and practice it. "Um, I'm uh, here for the One Great Hour of Sharing, ...the church does it every year, and uh, we pool our money with a bunch of other denominations and um it goes to aid in 90 countries. Yeah, there's pamphlets in your bullitins...and oh, there will be envelopes in there on the 20th to collect the money. Thanks." and off the pulpit April runs to her seat!! *rolls eyes* For that matter, I'd forgotten to drop the pamphlets off at church earlier this week, so I spent fifteen minutes stuffing them in the bulletins. Le sigh. Still not too awful, considering this is the first time I've done something like this. People who talk about mission etc work all the time, get really comfy up there, I've noticed. Especially if they know by name or face, everyone in the congregation. They sound like they're having a conversation with you. I'm so jealous.
They're doing Family Bridge soon, it'll be the first time I didn't stay overnight. But next week I start on a new task and have to be at work at 7am, and I don't know what I'll be working during Family Bridge in a few weeks. If I have to be at work at 7am, it won't work because that's when the families are supposed to be leaving and I'm supposed to be locking up.
Monday: Meeting with the Board of Mission and Outreach
Tuesday: Chorus sectional
Thursday: Chorus rehearsal
Next weekend the Portland Gay Men's Chorus is performing, and I'd like to go to that. I know at least one person in it, he's in my church. They were on the front of the Art section of the paper today, and in another picture I thought I recognized someone else.
I hope Aurora gets to sing with them at some point when I'm in the chorus. That would be neato. Speaking of neato chorus stuff, yesterday I finally got around to actually practicing. I gotta admit I feel weird sitting there with a headphone on only one side of my head, singing along all by my lonesome. I'm better at staying on pitch than I thought, but it sounds really strained on the higher stuff. I don't know if it was because it was cold in my room, or because I needed to warm up better. I hit the higher stuff just fine in rehearsal. Practicing alone does tend to point out the parts where I personally suck. I ended up taking a lot of notes on my sheet music. What is it with me and wanting to end long words early? Nearly always, I want to end words far before they actually do. It's easier when Joan's there directing you because she motions when it's time to cut off a word.
Also, the chorus might be going to San Diego next year over Memorial Day weekend. There's a choral festival type thing and I guess we've been invited. I'd probably try to take some vacation time before or after that so that I could stay in San Diego and visit some family. Another plus is that my Grandma and my Uncle Brian would be able to hear me sing!
Tonight Cherie and I are going to some folk-dancing thing. Sounds like fun.
Yah, I make long posts. *shrug* If it truly irritates someone, please let me know and I'll start abusing the LJ-cut tags.
