aprilstarchild: (knitting!)

Definition of ADD knitter:

Suddenly get the urge to work on a sock you abandoned last fall.

Rummage under bed until you find the partially-knit sock.

Untangle yarn.

Ransack several rooms until you find the book with the pattern in it--which, as it turns out, is also under the bed. Next to where you found the sock.

Look for stitch markers.

"Now where was I in this pattern? Oh! I was about to turn the heel."

Knit happily for several rows while listening to Pandora and occasionally singing along.

Realize you messed up a couple rows back. Twitter to whine about it. Unknit several rows and fix the error.

Knit happily for several rows. Tell Pandora that no, you really don't like that Fergie song. Again.

"I wonder what people are doing on facebook?" Maybe you should check.

Knit happily for several more rows.

Check livejournal. Realize a friend might like Joanna Newsom.

Bring up youtube and watch your favorite video of hers. Notice that youtube is suggesting several more you haven't seen. Watch those too.

Knit a few more rows.

Aaaaand continue, ad nauseum.

Dang. No wonder I knit so damn slow.

I haven't mentioned last night yet. The protest thing was super-fun. Lots of people with home-made signs supporting Planned Parenthood, lots of happy honking people driving by. (As a side note: How is it that I've self-identified as a feminist for something close to two decades, and not done anything like this before?)

Shawn G and I left just as it was starting to wind down, and rode our bikes to the Skidmore Bluffs, which was slightly crowded with other people (mostly cyclists) there to watch the sunset as well. We'd brought food and wine and the weather was awesome so we had a lovely time, we didn't leave until it was mostly dark.
