This coming Tuesday I am organizing a casual, fun pro-choice support rally in NE Portland. It'll be a bike ride w/sound system meeting up at Irving park (NE 7th and Fremont) around 5pm, doing a short, easy ride to nearby NE MLK and Beech--that's across the street from the new slated Planned Parenthood location, where I get to see a handful of protesters holding anti-abortion signs during rush hour every day on my way home.
Want an upbeat, non-confrontational, FUN way to let your fellow Portland residents know how happy you are to have safe, accessible reproductive health care come to this (my, our) neighborhood? Then dress up (or not) and come out with a smile on your face to hang out and dance your ass off on the sidewalk for a couple hours! This is a family friendly event, and everyone is welcome. I would especially like to emphasize the fact that this is intended to be a POSITIVE, NON-CONFRONTATIONAL event. It's more of a proactive action of our own accord, than a negative response. Action, not reaction!
So again, that's meet up at Irving park between 5 and 6, and then ride to NE MLK and Beech (or just meet us at the destination if you don't have time after work, or whatever). Awesome!
Shawn G and I are definitely going to be there, and the more the merrier!
