Dec. 8th, 2007 11:22 amI didn't think I'd get much of a kicker check (for those not in Oregon--if they collect more in state income taxes than what they budgeted for, they give the rest back to us, whether they need that money or not), because I don't pay much in taxes...but I got $230! Maybe it's not based on what you paid but just split evenly among everyone? I really don't know!
In any case, it's excellent timing...I still haven't paid for school and I really need to actually pay
jameslentz for my bike. I've certainly put more money into the bike than what he's asking for it. *lol* (And I keep thinking, I should really get a road bike, but I can't bear to get rid of the Raleigh, and then I would have two bikes, but that's not really so unusual...)
Of course, I also have to pay my Visa bill, and I still owe Jarrod around $300, and I'm behind on my Sallie Mae payments....
ARGH.
I'm paying school completely off so I can register for next term, and everything else it's like, paying it slowly slowly down...
Speaking of bikes--it was fun riding to work this morning with Tobi. She hadn't been on a bicycle in ten years! We get to work, and we'd been going slower than I usually go so I haven't even broken a sweat. She's all tired and her legs feel like jelly. But it's super fun to help someone else learn how to ride in traffic..."Don't be afraid to take the whole damn lane when there's no bike lane. You have the right to do so and then you're less likely to get doored....don't forget to signal when you turn...there's a lot of bike stings here so make sure you stop at this stop sign, or at least look carefully for cops..." I think of myself as a fairly newbie bike commuter, but I know more than I thought I did. I need to find my copy of the BTA book about bike laws to loan her, it's so insanely useful.
And there's always the amusement factor of "No, your tires aren't flat... if your derailleur is rattling just change the gear a tiny bit higher or lower, yes, this is indeed uphill." *LOL*
