Apr. 26th, 2007 05:35 amSo a few months ago while looking for work, I poked around a bunch on the OHSU website. They do studies all the time, and they have a department that just studies ADD. They had a research program going and were looking for volunteers, so I called them up. The guy running it said they had all the people they needed at the moment, but that they might need me later, and said he would call.
I got a voice mail while I was working yesterday. It's a "visual tracking" study. He says it would take about four hours and that I would get paid $30 an hour.
Woo! Even if I miss work for it, I'll come out ahead. Not to mention that if I do it soon, I'll have more spending money for Convergence, both for my clothes and for the event itself, although Jarrod and I budgeted a little bit of spending money for me at the event anyway.
Wee! I get to be a lab rat!
So that stupid It List thing in the Willamette Week...they published that picture from last year's Vamp Ball a month ago. This week they have a listing for Faire in the Grove (making fun of it, because that's what they do) and the picture is of
singswithtrees's mom and brother, in their usual getup of Arthur and Patsy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's such an awesome costume, too; she runs around behind him with coconuts and everything. And the person writing the blurb knew what they were looking at, the caption for the pictures says "RUN AWAY!!!"
(
singswithtrees: I tried to call you yesterday and tell you, but my cell phone died on me. Sorry!)
I'm going to be going to my coven's retreat late. I admittedly didn't try to ask for the Friday off until a few weeks ago, but it wouldn't have mattered--Dina had that entire month reserved off, before I even started working there. And then I mis-read the calender and tried to ask for Saturday off, which is silly because we're not open on Saturdays. I just realized my mistake the other day.
Most of the drivers are going down on Thursday. I suppose that I could always take Greyhound to the nearest town and ask someone to pick me up...I'm not sure if Greyhound even goes to the coast anymore. >_<
Woo I just volunteered for either the set-up or take-down for VegFest on May 11th and 12th. It means I get into the Friday night speaker for free (the dude who wrote The China Study! Yes! I could get my book signed!), and I remember last year that
jameslentz and
ourglasslake got goody bags too.
VegFest is so awesome. If you're in the Portland area and at all interested, you should go. You don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to be there, either. There are food samples galore (many places also give out coupons) and food/merchandise vendors (much of the merchandise, and lots of information booths of course. There are speakers all day and cooking demonstrations as well. It's a hell of a lot of fun.
