aprilstarchild: (hot cosplayers)
Last night Jarrod and I saw two movies, Little Miss Sunshine and The Science of Sleep. I liked them both a lot. Little Miss Sunshine had some neato characters in it, and I especially liked Dwayne. The Science of Sleep was so freaky and funny, and I was proud of the tiny amount of French I still understood--half the movie is in English and half in French with subtitles.

Jarrod had never been to the Laurelhurst before, so that was fun. And I almost literally ran into [livejournal.com profile] demolishedman as I walked out the door!

Yesterday when I went to the medical staffing office to sign paperwork and show her my IDs, she handed me a burned copy of "Where's Neil When You Need Him?" with a song listing and everything. I'm entirely too proud of recognizing a few names on the list that weren't Tori.

I think I might buy some rats and a cage and all that with my first paycheck. Hmmmm...

Jarrod got a bunch of copper from work. Most places have a policy that the apprentices get to take all the waste copper cable, so they can sell it to a recycling place. He's been cutting it into chunks so he can peel off the plastic outside stuff.

Now we have this big'ol box of copper. The chunks are between 12 to 18 inches, and he says it's around 12 to 14 gauge. It bends pretty easily, we've made random things out of it, but I don't know how to dull the poky ends very well, so you wouldn't want to wear any of it!

If anyone wants some, let me know. He was planning on taking it in within a week or so.

Y'know, it's one thing to know that my iPod can play videos. It's another thing for Jarrod to put an episode of Democracy Now! on it, and for me to sit there, dumb-struck, at how fantastic it looks on that tiny screen. Holy effin' crap.

On the other hand, it takes up 400MB. It's about an hour long.

There's a locally-made kombucha called Pirate's Choice. Of course I had to get some. Mmmm, that one's better than the other one I tried.

We have some rum I got after seeing it in Bust, called Sailor Jerry's. It's super-yummy, and the little booklet attached to the bottle suggested, among other things, mixing it with grapefruit juice. It sounds nasty but it's so goddamn good. The rum has cherry and vanilla flavors, and it mixes really well with the grapefruit. It would make fantastic rum'n'cokes as well, but that seems like a waste to me for some reason.

I've started talking to a rat breeder in Salem. *crosses fingers* This might finally happen!
