Many things
Dec. 7th, 2006 07:39 pm1. LJ's little top page bar has a swirl of the Aurora on it. Considering I've just been thinking about it, that's cool.
2. Probably no one cares about this but me and Jarrod and possibly
thorongil8, but Richard Dawkins (along with Daniel Dennett and Sam Harris) have been printed in lots of places recently--both their own writings, and reviews of their books; these places include Time and The Sun. Always, always, they get lots of letters from people defending religion.
So here's a little article refuting some of the more common arguments.
3. Last night I went to The Grotto with my parents. The Westview Choirs were wonderful as always, and I like their director's choices of music. The lights are very pretty. They sang Vivaldi's Gloria, and the part I sing is a guy's part in a mixed chorus. I was listening for it, of course.
But the night was partially spoiled by my parents asking me about the kids thing. I made the mistake of telling them that Jarrod's not sure he wants kids, and now they hound me about it at every opportunity. I swear, if they do it at Christmas, I'm throwing a huge fit. I've already decided I want them, but whether or not I actually have kids, and when, is not my parents' decision, it's mine. And every time they bring it up, I have this stubborn urge to not ever have children just to spite them. I think I'll tell them that, then maybe they'll leave me alone. My parents are seriously not going to be happy unless every one of their three children produces offspring.
My mom even suggested that I get my IUD yanked and not tell Jarrod. I know she was joking, but that she would even jokingly suggest it, is horrifying, because I think that that's a terribly immoral thing to do.
4. Freshly made coffee with vanilla soymilk is one of the finer small pleasures in life, yessiree.
5. Today I have to finish cleaning out my old room at my parents' house, and I have a chorus rehearsal. This weekend, I have two parties on Saturday and a sectional rehearsal on Sunday. I have more rehearsals on Monday and Thursday, with both my concerts that next Saturday, along with my coven's Solstice overnight. My grandfather gets here on Monday, and I need to spend some time visiting him.
I have two knitting projects to finish, I need to buy lots of Christmas presents (although I at least know what I'm getting for my immediate family, whew), and on top of all of that, I still need to look for a new job!!
Gaaah!
