aprilstarchild: (I'm too sexy)
I don't think I went to bed until at least three, I didn't look at the time.

So why did I wake up at nine??

I'm craving salty food like freaking crazy. I have that tub of onion dip, but I'm not sure if there's anything in the house to eat it with! I keep thinking of all the chips I left at [livejournal.com profile] jasperpdx's place...if I'd left them in the bag I could've taken them home with me, but nooooo, I had to put them in a bowl all pretty...

Yesterday in my sectional rehearsal, when it was over, a woman stood up and said she had an extra ticket to Faust for the November 7th show. I raised my hand...I have a ticket to Faust!!! *happy dance* I get to see the Jewel song in person! Whee!

I've been to two sectional rehearsals for chorus this weekend. Holy shit has my singing improved. I have to admit, though; that I'm getting a tad tired of practicing the B to A bit in one song, or the rhythm for that one phrase...oy!

Jarrod and I went to Reed campus today and walked around the lake/nature preserve they've got. It was just so gorgeous, with the fall stuff going on. We saw a heron!

And then I got a song from last term based on a Wendell Berry poem, stuck in my head:

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Yeah! Anyway. A woman in my section had seen me at the Richard Dawkins reading--and btw, there was almost a thousand people there, holy crap. She was bitching that they should just toss the Q&A idea and have him do more talking. It sounded really funny from her because she's got a Southern accent. We didn't have much chance to talk about it today, unfortunately. Maybe on Thursday...

I took a long-ass nap earlier, after Jarrod got home. He was listening to the NPR show Marketplace, and as I drifted in and out, stuff from the show kept getting into my dreams. It was a bit surreal. And my naps have made me drowsy all day.

It's getting dark way earlier now. That is, easily, my least favorite part about winter. Ugh.
