Oct. 8th, 2006 09:06 amThere's a small debate in this house, as to whether or not it's okay for me to have rats. Mostly because of Lucy Bat Barber. As in, would she attempt to eat said rats? I'm worried that rats might instinctually know what cats smell like and that they'd be scared. Jarrod says he's had rats and cats in the same household without a problem.
jenhowell isn't sure she likes the idea of the rats being in a cage constantly in order to keep them from being Lucy's dinner, but I think I could stuff a towel under the door of the bedroom and let them run around with supervision occasionally.
I just know I want some little furry things to hold and take care of. And to name either Fred and George or Merry and Pippin. Probably the hobbit names, since the rats will be small and hairy. *lol*
I need to figure out how to get some rats from a reputable breeder. Most of the pet stores, you have no idea where the rats came from. Not to mention that some have bad reputations--we saw rats at Scamps in the mall, but they sell little lonely puppies too, and that bothers me. I suppose I'll have to ask around, I'm a member of a rat comm on LJ, and I can check craigslist, or ask at
veganpeople if there are any pet stores that don't have a bad history.
Jarrod bought a game called Okami. You're a mythical wolf. It's really neat-looking. I think part of what's so great about how advanced the graphics are now, is that rather than realism, some games go for a more artsy look. The visuals are meant to be kinda like old Japanese paintings.
Odd thing about TMJ: there's not a lot of nerve endings in the actual joint that's having a problem, so things near the joint hurt. Right now, it's that left lymph node in my neck (I think the muscle over it is just getting tight). Yesterday it was my sinuses. The day before that, my ear itched. Gaaah. It's doing better now than it was, though, thank gods. I can close my mouth all the way, and it's not popping as much. I need to keep on top of my weird-looking exercises.
Okay. Just a little more surfing, then time for a shower and clothes and then off to get the rest of the gift for
ruby_wings's baby shower and then meet up with my mom. Woohoo!
