Okay, is anyone else going to the Oregon Country Fair on Sunday?!?

Everyone I know, it would seem, is going on Saturday. I'd prefer to avoid Saturday. First of all, because [livejournal.com profile] axiom's "real" graduation party is the night before, and I'm probably going to be a zombie the next day, and I'd like to be able to say "Oh, I'll sleep in the car on the way there" but I know I'll be all excited about going to OCF and I won't. And [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 is probably coming along to the party, and he is even less functional than I am on too-little sleep.

Secondly, because Saturday is inhumanly crowded. They sell more tickets that day for a reason. It's close to 15,000 people there on Saturday. It takes forever to walk anywhere, the lines for all the food booths are longer, it's harder to see any of the acts unless you show up mega-early and sit around, good luck getting anywhere near the drum tower. There have been years when we camped there for the weekend, and everyone (well, not me) went into Eugene on Saturday and skipped OCF that day because of the crowds.

The only real downsides to Sunday: Everyone's tired from the midnight thing the night before, it's a bit dustier, some of the booths are running out of stuff. But I'm not there, this year, to go shopping anyway. Not much, hah. I'm sure I'll come home with something.

But, yeah: [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 and I are looking to carpool on Sunday, so that we can snooze on the way home, because we both have work the next day.

Oh man. Oregon Country Fair. *all excited* I have pictures from last year over here.

[livejournal.com profile] thorongil8 is going to be carpooling with myself and [livejournal.com profile] rikell42 to OCF. Yaaay! *happy dance*

Ooh, that reminds me, I need to get my wings from Zoe. The ones that [livejournal.com profile] underthethrow made!

I picked up a Peach Pit at People's Co-op today, too, and reading the lists of performers and seeing that map on the back made me get all excited. OMG. Can't wait. I keep saying, "next year I'll stay all weekend!" but next year for sure. *lol*

Wooo!

If you've never been, you have no idea how huge this thing is. here is a map. Make sure you're seeing it full-size and not fitted to your window. See all those teeny tiny square-shaped things with numbers on them? Those are each a booth, selling something, either neato hand-made objects or food. According to the website, there are over 700 artisans, and fifty food booths--and you can stuff yourself all day whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or omnivorous. There are twelve stages, and there is almost always something on each of them. It ranges from instrumental jam music to rock music to folk music to lots of vaudeville to circus acts to spoken word to puppet shows.

There's political activism booths in several places. There's people in goofy costumes everywhere. There are people on stilts. There's a parade twice a day playing "Teddy Bear's Picnic." There's a Chinese Dragon once a day--I walked with it several years. Everyone gets out of the way for it, too, so it's a great way to literally run all over the fairgrounds in one shot, even if you don't get to see much beyond people's faces!!

Can you tell I'd love everyone to go? At least once in their lives?
