It's been forever since I've posted! Well, forever for me anyhow.
Friday
rikell42 picked me up at my house and after going to the liquor store, we went to JoAnns. I have stuff to sew him garb for Pirate's Gathering. I must be loony. *lol* I swear my cloak is the most complicated thing I've ever sewn before this. And I have, what, three weeks to finish it? Oy. I think I can do it though.
Heh, if I like the way the pants turn out I might make myself a pair.
We stopped by the Red and Black to get really yummy food and then went back to his place and made margaritas, which admittedly tasted better once I gave
sagcat a call and asked how he made his. We rented Secretary (I don't have an icon from that anymore, boo) and watched it while having more margaritas and making general idiots of ourselves, so of course it turns out Bert (the guy who owns the house, and whose bedroom is pretty much behind the TV) was home and trying to sleep. Oops.
Saturday was literally event-ful. I went to the neo-tribal class at Euphoria. Holy shit, have I become out of practice. On the upside--there's a student show on June 17th (I think) and I started taking classes again just as they've started rehearsing for it. Go me. :^) It's an informal kind of thing, but I don't care, I think it'll be fun to dance for an audience, even if it's mostly other students.
Back at the house we met up with
ourglasslake and
jameslentz and made our way to Food Fight!. We were early,
isachandra was late, ha. We ended up being first in line for booksigning and cupcakes (mmmmm...cupcakes), I think there ended up being about fifty people. When Isa got there, Josh Hooten (who edits Herbivore Magazine) got goofy and started jumping up and down and yelling "She's here! She's here!!!" which cracked me up.
I forgot my camera but I took some pictures with my phone. I'll figure out how to get them up here.
ourglasslake might become an intern at the magazine. I'm so jealous. Also, they're opening up a store for Herbivore Clothing, which I'm excited about.
After eating more cupcakes and watching the crowd like spectators of some kind, we ran around the playground across the street for a bit, and then I was feeling sleepy.
ourglasslake and
jameslentz went off to eat at Vege Thai, and
rikell42 and I went back to his place for a nap. I love naps. Especially snuggly ones.
Then
ourglasslake came over with The Happy Hooker and the three of us, after a quick trip to Mabel's for hooks and yarn, attempted to teach ourselves to crochet. It was tricky, to say the least, but I managed to figure out single, half-double, double, and triple crochet. Even if it looked kinda lumpy, and I'm not too sure about what I'm doing at the end of each row. I eventually pulled out my first swatch and started over, I've been doing another of just single crochet. I found the errata for the book over here (it's a .pdf) and I think I'll wait for the next edition before buying it, because holy crap there's a lot of errata.
We worked on that for several hours, and then
rikell42 took me to Kalga Cafe, which is really really yummy. And they have vegan chocolate mousse. Oh Yes.
The only truly sucky thing is that I pinched a nerve because I was working so hard at crocheting. It really hurt and continued to bug me throughout the rest of the evening. I took the last of my Skelaxin last night, that helped, I woke up with it un-pinched, thank gods, because it was hurting from my shoulder down my arm and into my godforsaken hand, and advil wasn't helping at all.
Aaaand then he took me home and I have a ship's meeting for Pirate's Gathering today and I really need to get in the shower, holy crap!!
