Mar. 2nd, 2006 11:07 pmDamn, I haven't read Anansi Boys yet, so I totally didn't understand anything. But in Neil Gaiman's blog he gave a link to a Polish TV ad for it! Yup, a TV ad for a book. They should do that more often. I've seen TV ads for books here in the US, but it was always for something stupid and/or shitty. This one looked like a cheap production movie trailer. :^)
From
vashtiabukhalil I got a link to an interesting artist. Of the stuff I've seen, I especially like this one.
Yes, I am feeling much better. Oddly enough, what's making me feel better, is knowing I have at least one fun thing to do every weekend as far as my eye can see. *lol* This weekend is a night out for
alicia_stardust's birthday, and the chorus potluck, and
jameslentz and
ourglasslake's Mardi Gras party. Sunday I was thinking of going to the the Women's Day thing at PSU...there's a ton of cool stuff going on, including Aurora singing at 1:40pm. I won't be singing with them, mostly because that require me being awake, alert, and in NE Portland at nine am Saturday. As it is, for the potluck, I'm going to be there at eleven am instead. I've missed the potlucks before because I was always out dancing/drinking the night before, but I asked the person organizing it if people could mark the vegan/vegetarian food, and she's specifically asked the chorus to think about bringing vegan/vegetarian items, so now I feel semi-obligated. *lol*
Yup. I stayed in chorus. Even if that means getting chunks of the song "On Children" stuck in my head over and over while at work. Excuse me while I go bang my head into a brick wall. The song isn't a bad one, but my brain has a habit of latching on to one section and putting it on the never-ending Repeat mode.
On the other hand, we rehearsed that Wendell Berry piece tonight (the song is called "The Peace of Wild Things," I think; the "hook" of the song is "I come into the peace of wild things..."), and I just love it. That and "Hold On," which surprised me. Heh.
There are several pieces this time around where the section I sing in, has the melody (whether it's Altos in three part or Alto 1's in four part), and that gives me the warm fuzzies. I may try out for a solo, too. Because I want to say that I at least tried out for one once, y'know? And there's one in my range this time, they're not all Soprano solos.
I have stuff to sell ads. The Portland Clinic has been slapping advertisements on everything lately, I'm hoping I can convince Mike Schwab to put a full-age ad in the program. I wish I could find one of my programs. They'll have some at rehearsal next week, I figure I can send up one of those, and the ad form, and a nice letter, and I have a shot. They're not all that expensive, considering how many people will see them--a business card sized ad is like $55 or something, and the back cover is $400, to give a range.
If you sell a whole page of ads, your name is put into a drawing. Last term a woman won diamond earrings. o_O
Something like 1,200 people see those ads, so if anybody is interested, let me know.
Talked to Athir for the first time in ages tonight. He's going to be at Paganfaire next weekend. Wheee!
And now: bed.
