aprilstarchild: (I'm too sexy)
Yesterday I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and [livejournal.com profile] silverrose79 about a goofy music video someone made. The song is some Swedish guy singing lyrics like, "oooh, you touch my tra la la, oooh, my ding ding dong." It's a gawdawful song. Although it makes me laugh.

But the video is using images from World of Warcraft. Some of it is a tad...um, creative.

In any case, it's over here.

*giggles madly*

Also, quote of the day from watching the movie (again) yesterday, from [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake: "Barty Crouch wants to lick Snape's wand!!"

We sat all the way in the back. And behold, there was much giggling and squee!ing.

Quote of the day, from my dad, who is quoting a song:

"I'd rather have a frog in my throat, than a porcupine stuck to my face."

First, the semi-serious things:

*My family. I don't alway get along perfectly with them, but I know they love me, and that I will never be homeless or starving as long as I have them. I will always have a home to come back to.
*My friends that are like my second family. There are far too many of you to name.
*More specifically, my friends who have talked me through some the crappier times of my life, offering a fresh perspective and patient ears whenever I've needed them. You guys know who you are.
*EarthenGrove. I don't think I could ask for a better coven. Well, I could, but I wouldn't get one. *lol*
*Being vegan. I know that sounds odd, but being vegan gives me a feeling of being in right relationship with the world.
*My LiveJournal. I'd go crazy without it. It's a place to vent, a place to think "out loud," a place to meet new people (waves to [livejournal.com profile] ourglasslake and [livejournal.com profile] jameslentz in particular), to be silly. It's a place to hang out with people of like minds ([livejournal.com profile] veganpeople, anyone? Or [livejournal.com profile] harrydraco, for that matter) and catch up with what my friends are doing and thinking.
*My job--I mean, yeah; I have great coworkers and the work itself isn't horrible, but it's good to be employed.
*Adderall, aka Attention Span in Pill Form.
*Aurora chorus. Learning that I can indeed sing, and mixing my voices with so many other supportive awesome women, and doing it in public where people paid to see it and enjoyed it, was good for my soul.

Not-so-serious stuff:

Tri-met. Thank gods I don't have to have a car. Actually, considering what a crappy driver I was, you should be thankful for this, too.

We're waiting for the turkey to finish, and then I can put it in my green bean casserole and then the pumpkin pie I've made.

They didn't make a non-vegan green bean casserole. Hopefully there's enough leftovers to take to the potluck tomorrow for myself and the other two vegans.

I've never cooked this much in one day in my whole freaking life. Green bean casserole (made with homemade mushroom soup), pumpkin pie, stuffing, gravy....Most of the stuffing is going to wait until tomorrow to be baked at the party itself. For now I have a little bit that was baked in the toaster oven for myself.

[livejournal.com profile] ruby_wings put some candied yams aside and baked them with margarine. My mom put some waldorf (walnuts, apples, celery) salad aside for me to put fake mayo on. I ran out of soymilk, so no mashed potatoes, but they were never my favorite anyway. She's not putting butter on the corn, just putting it on the table so I can put margarine on mine instead.

My stuff tastes better than theirs, I think. My gravy does, my stuffing does.

I am one happy vegan.

Went to Embers last night, they have a goth music night on Wednesdays. They play a different variety than at Noir, although apparently everyone loves the song Dead Stars by Covenant. I know I do.

Their dance floor is hardwood, which sounds like a good idea, but it's slippery!!

I saw a pale blond boy with lots of eyeliner. I sat down next to him and asked him if he'd read/seen any of Harry Potter. The answer was no. I laughed and told him that this would make no sense then, but he looks a lot like Draco Malfoy, and that from me it was a compliment. He smiled and thanked me. Grr, I wish I'd had my Draco pin on my purse.

Well, he looked like a gay goth Draco Malfoy, but still. I swear that dude is going to be my mental image for some fanfics now.

My brothers bought those Jones sodas that are flavored like turkey and gravy, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce...we poured a bit of a few flavors into shot glasses and tried them (they're all vegan). Oh holy hell, those are disgusting. I mean, really, they're gross. We didn't even open the one flavored to taste like salmon pate. The worst was a few minutes later, when one by one we all burped. Ugh!

I made a World of Warcraft character on [livejournal.com profile] ruby_wings account. She's a night elf hunter named Aprilstar (my usual name wouldn't fit). I got her up to a level two. It feels weird to go around killing things, considering my first quest was killing animals. Supposedly there were too many, and it was throwing off the balance of things, so it was my job to kill some. Maybe I shoulda been a druid after all.

Gaaah. Waiting for the oven. Getting impatient.

If I won the lottery the first three things I'd do:

Buy a full sized Thormahlen harp.

Buy a house in SE Portland that's falling apart and start fixing it up and doing the yard, all with an eye towards the environment (like installing greywater tanks to water the garden, etc.).

Travel the world, preferably backpacker-style. No clunky suitcases for me. :-)

What would you do? Post this in your journal and tell me.

What Type of Villain are You?

mutedfaith.com.

This isn't accurate at all. *cough*

Going to bed now. I have no idea how I'm going to haul all of that food to [livejournal.com profile] axiom and [livejournal.com profile] alicia_stardust's apartment complex. I have a pumpkin pie (that isn't set too firmly), some stuffing that needs to go in the oven, and green bean casserole. The casserole is in a baking dish with a good lid, but the pie sure isn't, and the stuffing is currently in a plastic container.

I know [livejournal.com profile] ninja_pidgeon and [livejournal.com profile] sagcat are bringing gravy, but I have leftover gravy and it's really good, so I'm bringing it. It's the gravy from How It All Vegan, except I put it in a blender. Hahaha!!

I think I may leave the food here and just come back for it, I don't want to be dragging all that food to work!
