Oct. 19th, 2005 05:17 pmMy horoscope from Free Will Astrology for this upcoming week:
I used to have a Scorpio friend who liked to spout the ecstatic mystic poetry of Rumi. (Sometimes he added his own rapturous improvisations, and so I was never sure where Rumi left off and his words began.) Since you're currently in a phase when the potential for euphoric release and delirious catharsis are high, I've selected five of these quotes that are in alignment with your astrological omens. (1) "Close your eyes and see with your other eyes." (2) "If you want to be held, open up your arms." (3) "Quit acting like wolves and let the shepherd's love fill you." (4) "We're not here to seek approval but disgrace and celebration." (5) "Let the beauty you love be what you do."
The stars conspire!! Oh shit!!
Also, in a completely unrelated note:

I need to just buy I Feel Sick, the comic this comes from. The amusing thing being that the central plot isn't the part I enjoy, it's the freakish dialogue. Jhonen Vasquez and the other person who made it (Roman Dirge? Help me out here) were working on Invader Zim at the time, and it shows in the art style. I love the art in I Feel Sick as well, especially the color scheme--which is a tad darker and less bright than Invader Zim, but otherwise very similar.
I read in an interview that Jhonen kept cracking up while writing the dialogue between Tenna and Devi. I know I laughed my ass off while reading it.
I have Spooky somewhere. I want to find him. And then I can go around the house for an hour just squeezing him and giggling maniacally.

Oct. 19th, 2005 07:18 pmLast night I was regaling people with the story of my coworkers and I randomly quoting phrases from The Princess Bride. I giggled over how one in particular spent most of the afternoon saying, "Inconceivable!!"
My dad said something like, "Inconceivable sounds like the brand name of a few form of birth control."
Today the joke of the day was Philipino game shows. On American shows like The Price is Right, the prizes are shown off by women, often in evening gowns, dramatically posing with said items. Apparently, in the Phillipines, said girls are always dancing. Well, more like just bouncing up and down with their weight resting on one leg. For the whole show. Including while showing off items. Also, they wave and wink and look as though randomly speaking to individual audience members.
So we spent all day holding up charts, bopping in place.
We are easily amused.
