Oct. 8th, 2005 05:01 pmHarry Potter and the Hogwarts! It's a video of what appears to be a high-school aged dance team doing a Harry Potter ...skit? Dance? I laughed my ass off. The video quality ain't great (which isn't helped by the bad focusing job) but you can tell who the major characters are. I don't think Daniel Radcliffe can do the splits, which is too bad. Thanks to
aeonflux1973 for the link.
It's so very West Side Story. Ha!!
So, last night: After spiffing myself up, I took the max downtown. I got chatty with a woman behind me, and I have her name but nothing else. Darn. We mostly talked about fantasy authors.
I got the Fez way earlier than anyone else, which was fine. I got to nab our usual spot and get a drink. I ended up chatting to someone who introduced themselves with a different name that started with A, but when I said my name was April, it turns out that's her actual name too. She was kinda cute but I didn't see her much after that. She said she goes to the Fez pretty frequently so I'll probably run into her again at some point.
It wasn't long before everyone showed up. We were all trying to consume enough alcohol to get to our "happy place" before the drinks got more expensive at eleven. I'm pretty sure we all succeeded. *lol*
OMG. They played three of my favorite Fez songs one right after the other. A Justin Timberlake song, Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out," U2's "Two Hearts Beat as One." During that last one I started dancing on that little stage thing. I didn't feel that drunk. During "Take Me Out,"
aurorapdx and I were lip-syncing along. Yay!! Her dress kicked ass.
dragon_mintz's sister was there. Judging by how much she apparently drank before getting to the Fez, and how lucid she seemed, she can hold her liquor way freaking better than I can. Holy crap.
Saw a woman whose name I am always forgetting. She has a booth of stuff that she sells, goes to the Pirate events and most local Pagan events that have merchants. Real sweetie.
Eventually people started leaving. I got a ride with Jeff, and he dropped me off at
5minutelimit's place, where I crashed for the night. Well, "crashed" isn't really the word, as I didn't sleep all that great. Blargh. Conked out on the max on the way home though. I woke up with a start when they announced the Elmonica stop.
My parents bought Quizno's home. I ate some cereal and soup at
5minutelimit's, and I tried to eat at Veganopolis but my appetite wasn't cooperating. Grrr. It's not the cheapest food. I've had some soy protein drink and my parents brought home Quizno's. I haven't even taken my Adderall today and my appetite is shot anyway. WTF? I'm trying to up my caloric intake, once I realized that my brown lace-up pants don't fit anymore. Waaaah!!
I have the cable for my camera now. Bwah ha ha, there will be posts with pictures at some point this evening. Assuming I get shit working on my mom's computer. Hopefully I won't end up bugging
axiom the way I did last time and having myself a minor freak-out.

Oct. 8th, 2005 07:47 pmI've been suggesting like crazy, schools to be added to LJ's list. The first one I tried, two weeks ago, has been added, Camp Allen Elementary in Norfolk, Virginia.
Now that someone has listed the provinces in Iceland (and to my own surprise I was able to remember which one Keflavik was in), I've suggested the schools on the military base.
I'm hoping to eventually have all my schools listed. Mostly because even I find the sheer number impressive. I had to ask my mom for the names of the first two, but without further ado:
Kindergarden: Helix Elementary, San Diego
Most of first grade: Thalia Elementary, Virginia Beach
The rest of first grade through the end of fourth grade: Camp Allen Elementary, Norfolk
Fifth and Sixth: A.T. Mahan Elementary, Keflavik, Iceland
First quarter of seventh: A.T. Mahan High, Keflavik, Iceland (the high school is 7-12)
The rest of seventh: Salem Junior High (now Middle School), Virginia Beach
Eighth: Landstown Middle School, Virginia Beach
Ninth through to the first quarter of eleventh: Salem High, Virginia Beach
(side note: I went to those last three while living in the same house--they built Landstown and then switched from a junior high to middle school setup)
The rest of eleventh: Hillsboro High School (aka Hilhi), Hillsboro
Twelfth: Westview High School, Portland (WTF? It's not really in Portland. It's part of the Beaverton School District. But it has a Portland address. Ooookay.)
As a random side note, I can easily recall fifth and especially seventh grades as quite possibly the worst years in my entire life so far. If anyone tries to tell you that children can't get major depressive episodes, kick'em in the crotch for me. My time at Hilhi ranks up there as Majorly Crappy as well. Also, no matter how many times you move, you never really get used to it, and you don't really get any better at making friends.
So, those plus PCC, and I'll have...eleven schools listed. Yaaaaay.
It made my dad angry when I told him this years ago, but I will never ever even date someone who is either currently in the military or considering joining. I refuse to subject any future children of mine, to moving every couple of years, and usually in the middle of the school year.

Oct. 8th, 2005 08:11 pmTotally random!!
This is me when I'm ovulating. It's based on a Something*Positive comic.

HAHAHAHAHAHA....and I'm not imagining it either. They've done some neato research on the idea. I can give more details if asked, but won't bore you otherwise.

Oct. 8th, 2005 08:54 pm"I'm tired of casual sex with strangers, and now I'd like to try strange sex with casualties."
Seen on
metaquotes, which isn't a comm I should read or join because I'd do nothing but read it and laugh and laugh and laugh. Like I'm doing right now, annoying the fuck out of my dad. Yes, my father finds the sound of my laughter incredibly irritating. Gah.
Halloween costume dilemma! OMGWTF!
River from Serenity/Firefly: If I was ever going to dress as her, now would be good. I already have the boots she wears in the movie (well, close enough). I know how I'd do one of her dresses. I have long enough dark hair. She's not so recognizable that after this year I could get away with that costume. I mean, all I'd need other than a vague resemblence, is a fake bloody weapon, yes?
Janis Joplin: I already have all the parts except a feather boa or two for my hair and the glasses and a bottle of Southern Comfort, but all my stuff is buried in the shop somewhere among all my other boxes. The chances of me digging it all out in time are slim. I can dress as Janis Joplin any year.
So, poll time! Yay!!
[Poll #586469]
In the same vein, this icon cracks me up:

Kara's in town. Tomorrow I'm hanging out with her and Myriad (who's over a year old now) and some friends from Eugene I've never met who apparently came up here to pick figs. I need recipes involving fresh figs. I don't even know if I like them! *lol*
