Lotsa LOTR
Aug. 27th, 2003 04:20 pmIf you read LOTR fanfiction at all, http://www.fanfiction.net/profile.php?userid=416464 simply must be read. Well, more specifically, her User Guides. The woman actually writes User Guides for a living, and she wrote a bunch for some LOTR characters, and they're hysterical. Especially the one about Hobbits. But why oh why does she put the stories on fanfiction.net?? They stink! Half the time you get an annoying popup. You are forewarned.
Yesterday at work I bought The Two Towers, of course. Two copies, just so I could get the bobble-head dolls that Freddy's was offering with purchase. Binki got the very last Legolas, it was the display. I got myself Frodo but it was a toss-up between that and Merry. I'm sorely tempted to buy another DVD to get the Merry one and then returning the unopened DVD. It's not like they're anything terribly impressive. Oh well. I still wish I'd got that huge Treebeard toy with Merry and Pippin in his branches. If you pressed a button on Treebeard he'd talk. Just what I need, more tchotchkes.
So me and Bink tried to watch The Two Towers last night at her place. Andrea and Tommy spent the whole time screaming at each other about the stupidest shit. Maia and Rhi were whining. Grr wasn't feeling well. And I, well, I kept making pointless snarky comments a la The Very Secret Diaries. In other words, we spent a great deal of the movie with closed-captioning on. As if me and Bink don't have the vast majority of the dialogue memorized by now. By the end I was damn tired. I tortured Jon by showing him how much stuff is on The Library of Moria, and then I went to bed.
I got home at ten am this morning, with a long list of things to do today, and instead I napped until almost four. Color me unproductive. I might still go to the downtown library, I don't know when they close. Also, got some financial aid stuff in the mail, and I was all excited, and then I realized that it's a booklet with the same info that was in my Stafford counseling. Aka: Are you aware that this is a loan? You have to pay this back, y'know. Don't be surprised when we ask you to pay us back. Etc etc. Where is my damn promissory note to sign? Also, found out (very scary) that I won't get my first "disbursement" of moneys until 30 days after the beginning of the term, i.e.: one week short of Halloween. So I might have to work at Fred Meyer for a little while longer after all. But I don't know HOW I'm going to do that and a campus job, because I'll need to get one of those *before* the term starts. Oh well, if I'm working in the bookstore I'll have more hours at first anyway. I'd rather work at the Rock Creek one, but I'm at Sylvania three days a week, so I'll probably be there. Bleh.
