So I finally got started on Pandora Radio. I've had fun punching in all sorts of things.
And it turns out I really like extensive vamping (seriously, that comes up on almost every song), disco influences, four to the floor, and "subtle use of vocal harmony." Who knew?
So far I've heard two songs I recognize from The Fez that I didn't know, and both are recent. Heh.
So my musical tastes so far could be described as, "It's got a beat, and you can dance to it at the Fez's 'Shut Up and Dance' or Embers's goth night!"
Personally, I knew I'd be addicted when the first thing I pointed out I liked was Radiohead, and the next song they played (after "Subterranean Alien" by Radiohead) was The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby."
After I told it I liked Justin Timberlake it tried to play Usher. NO.
Oh hey, Neuroticfish! Awesome! It played Assemblage 23 earlier.
I haven't told it yet that I like Fiona Apple for fear of being bombarded by female singer/songwriters. When I told it I liked Joanna Newsom it tried some folkier stuff on me, but I only like either outright folk music (not modern folk, but like ethnic music or square dance music or Irish music), or stuff that is really freaky folk--Joanna Newsom was given the tags psych-folk and freak-folk, which she apparently hates.
Did it anyway. I just went from a long-ass stretch of synth-pop (as in, everything also had VNV Nation and Joy Division in the "Similar Artists" space) to Regina Spektor. I dunno why, but I don't like Regina Spektor. Just not my thing.
Okay, "Parklife" by Blur. I can deal with that.
Anyway. Gonna stop now. You guys don't care about the minutiae of my music preferences.
