Information about "free-range" eggs.
OMG. So many things happened this weekend, that I'm afraid that I couldn't write a post long enough to do it justice.
My captain has congratulated me on bringing in such cool newbies.
Being part of the guard for House Daos means you can end up helping with an Inquisition, able to see and hear everything as you stand guard. And get the opportunity to point a boffer in someone's face and yell, "Confess!!" with the other members of the Celebrated Order of Cardinal's Knights (COCKs). Or watching Phil McGroin shake a huge dildo in people's faces and yell, "Gaze upon it!" Meanwhile, we had SCA royalty sitting in the front (on their thrones!!) and watching. And occasionally cheering us on. Good to know there are non-stuffy royals.
Being part of a group nicknamed "cocks" ends up in the most predictable line of bad yet terribly funny jokes.
Including hosting boxing matches and calling them "cockfights." Which weren't terribly serious for the most part. Most of the violence bordered on cartoonish. I hollered and cheered a great deal.
Mojitos are yummy. Mint leaves and sugar and lime juice all ground up with a spoon in the bottom of a cup, add ice and some rum and lots of club soda. It's really refreshing when it's been hot all day.
Next time I see it, I think I will get the pin that says "Let go of my ears, I know what I'm doing." Partially because
dragon_mintz said it was appropriate. *evil giggle*
I think the best part of having been at Seadogs was that when people complained about the heat this past weekend,
angeldiva and I could say things like, "Oh, this is just fine compared to Seadogs..." which was pretty true! I managed to stay in garb all weekend. Having a hat and parasol helped. So did getting my headscarf wet--we had running water onsite. And sitting in the shade of my ship's canopy, with fabric tied to the sides just where the sun would come through. So there was shade and the breeze got through. Sitting in there, with my shipmates, with water and madlibs and picture books about pirates and watching people learn two versions of Tablero (with water in the shot glasses) was a fine way to pass the day.
Speaking of Tablero: The next event with a tournament, I want to see
dragon_mintz play. Watching her wipe the floor with my captain was awesome.
I got a red skirt. It might be my new favorite garb skirt. Also some really cheap yarn. And
5minutelimit gave me a flask with a jolly roger on it. Sweet!
I've been saying House Daos wrong. You don't pronounce the last "s".
Acorn is in two weeks, and I can't wait!
I just finished watching Supersize Me with
rikell42,
common_as_stone, and
jenhowell. I hadn't seen it yet. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, to be honest, but it was still worth seeing. Ugh. I don't know how his girlfriend dealt with that. I don't even like the smell of McDonald's food anymore, except for the fries. And I can get fries somewhere else.
Bert, our landlord, originally told us we had to be out on October 1st so he could remodel the house. He's changed his mind, and said we could stay until Spring sometime. So it looks like we'll be here a bit longer. I need to start moving more of my stuff in here, blargh. We have very little furniture in our room, because I didn't want to have to move my shit twice. Oh well. The rent here is super-cheap, which is helpful--I can save up more for the Iceland trip, things like that.
