Okay, so I know some of y'all are better with the trickier elements of LJ design, yes?

I've seen journals where people have a static image in the background--if you scroll up and down, the text etc. moves, but the background doesn't.

I took this picture a few weeks ago at the Rhododendron gardens and I'm kinda proud of it. I'm thinking of using it for a background image. If anyone knows how, drop me a line...

Lucy already has me well-trained. She jumps on the sink, and I turn the faucet on low so she can drink out of it. She loves doing that.

Just woke up. Well, I finally crashed at three, and then woke up at eight because the phone rang. I didn't answer it--Bert's home, and I'd assume if anyone wanted to call me, they'd call my cell phone. I sat reading my new book for a while: The China Study. It's good information, but a lot of it I already knew. I skipped around a bunch. But it did help me get back to sleep. *lol*

Speaking of which: Despite what I just said, The China Study is a damn important book. Unlike the vast majority of "diet" books out there, it's actually dependent on science--especially a wide-scale epidiomological study of China. Any information that came up, he took back to his lab and studied further. It's fucking awesome. Near the end he also points out why Americans are given such terrible information about how they should be eating.

I have to say, it bothers me immensely that the focus is on finding a cure for so many cancers, when they're so preventable. Many of the most expensive diseases to treat (autoimmune disorders, cancers, type 2 diabetes) are diseases of affluence--only wealthy countries get them. Mostly because we have such awful diets!! But noooo, see, drugs make money. Telling people to eat less sugar/simple carbohydrates, fat (especially animal fat), and protein (especially animal protein); and instead telling people to eat more whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and legumes--you won't make much money doing that. But it would cause the rate of many diseases to nosedive.

I wish I could get my dad to read this. :^( I might try.

I need to take a shower and leave the house already. Sheesh.
